Not sure if this is the correct place to post this.

Pretty impressive crash sequence, then seeing the remote camera being hit by the car body. Ouch.....

Sounds weird but, since it doesn’t work now, try going to device manager, delete the USB PORTS, then restart Windows. Plug the device in then, and call me in the morning. This really should work, as the system will see the device, and reload drivers automagically.

I have a security camera in my house (digital), that constantly monitors 24/7, for the last four years, and the videos and stills it takes appear to be as crisp and clear as the first ones it took. Just sayin...

Could some of it be spray in the air? At 600mm, I would think that may be a factor. I loaded your photo into Elements, and the largest effect I saw when playing with it, was when using the Auto Haze Removal feature. The image was still a touch out of focus, but the contrasts seemed to give it the effect of being a bit more in focus.

If you are shooting in RAW mode, switch to a different mode such as Fine. Then choose HDR and one of the sub menu items, Extra High, high, normal, low, auto, or off.

HDR will only work for the next shutter activation.

All of this can be done on the touch screen after hitting the “I” button on the back of the D5500.

Just read your own post, that about covers it.

My own post was a link, that also gave that same information from Nikon included in the link. I’m so glad that your self bloviating brilliance is so much more accurate than an actual press release from the manufacturer.

Care to try again, or are you just going to pull more inaccuracies out of wherever you got the last one...

The "A" version will work just fine. There is no physical difference between the two versions other than the updated control chip in the newer version.
There is a LOT of misinformation posted above, just ignore it.

Just curious as to what misinformation was posted above? Perhaps you can enlighten us.

From: https://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/92671/nikon-en-el15-vs-en-el15a

Nikon updated the design of the original EN-EL15 due to overheating issues. They issued a voluntary recall of some of the manufactured lots of EN-EL15 batteries, and stopped producing the non-"a" versions.

What type things do you like to shoot? Lots of good camera choices. Nikon and Canon sre good. There are other choices as well. One important thing is how does a camera Feel in your hand. Before deciding, go to a local camera shop and FEEL the difference as well.
Welcome to the Hog!

That was a huge deciding factor for my purchase, also the layout of the controls can make it easier if everything seems intuitive to you when holding the camera in your hands.
