I like the intense color, crop, and composition of the first photo. Because of their chopped and flawed greenery, busy background, and less intense color, the last three photos are less interesting to me. Thank you for taking the time and effort to send these photos.

Thank you for looking in. I probably needed more fill flash on the second photo to bring out the colors better. As for the third and fourth I wanted to show the size of the plant itself, here are the cropped photos of the two flowers on the plant. They are essentially snapshots almost SOC I send to my wife most mornings, so I don't experiment much with camera settings or post processing. I appreciate your critique though, as we are all looking to improve.

This plant had not flowered in more then 15 years, and was about to be added to the compost pile, when a few weeks ago, these popped.

Ok so I’ve been hesitant in asking questions here as I’ve noticed some people are really hateful in their replies as if to make the person asking feel stupid. Is there an admin that monitors questions, replies? I was always taught there are no stupid questions if you are are seriously looking for information.

Unfortunately there is no shortage of unhappy, snarky, miserable, self absorbed and just plain mean spirited people out in the world and occasionally here. Do not be afraid to ask any question you may have. Many of us are more then willing to help a newcomer to the forum with whatever advice or assistance we can offer. You'll just have to sort through the over whelming amount of responses you'll receive. As time goes by you'll find the members here who are most helpful and are considered by the rest us to be true and honest brokers of the art of digital and film photography, at which point you can start ignoring the rest of us !!

Welcome to the forum and we hope in the future to be seeing your first photo posts, as you learn and gain experience in your "new?" interest.

Just dropped back in to see where this conversation was going. At least some of it got interesting, debating the various pros and cons of various types of ammo. Also why some would rather carry a semi-auto as compared to bolt or lever action. Definitely a little more civil.

Sad but true. It's all about greed. Apple made $53 billion in profits last year, but they want to make more. "profit - noun - 1. a financial gain, especially the difference between the amount earned and the amount spent in buying, operating, or producing something." Profit is basically excess money.

The mass air flow sensor in my Honda Fit went bad, so I bought one from AdvanceAuto for $76. It didn't work. A mechanic told me that for electronic parts, I should buy from the dealer. The Honda part cost me $268, but it works. If I want a replacement key for my Honda Fit, it will cost me about $350. Remember when you go to a hardware store and have a key made for $0.50? Honda no longer makes service manuals available for their cars. I've owned these manuals for every car I've owned since 1962, but if there is no manual available, owners will tend to go to the dealer more often.

I wonder why laws are skewed toward businesses. Yeah, that's a real mystery.

Take a dive into where most political campaign contributions come from, and who funds and organizes some of the largest Political Action Committees. Oh, and just whose lobbyist are working the halls and offices of Congress.

Today was at a local gun show. Sat with a friend for about four hours. In that four hours about 30 people show up. Only saw 3 fire arms sold. Talk to people who where selling firearms, their were telling me that is was the four show their have done and none is moving. What is going on? My views of what is going on. Live in New York State(Northern New York) all sale of firearms had to have background check of the person buying the firearms. Cost of this by a dealer is $25 to $30. Add sale tax on to the cost of the forearm. So one has a added cost of $40 to $50. This will stop people buying. What kind of firearm is selling? Age of the person will tell you that. A person my age(73) is looking for firearms made before 1960s, this is true of Winchester's firearms made before 1964. Because of that the price of firearms my age group want have getting to the point of over price themselves out of the market. Winchester Model 94 ( The deer rifle of Northeast US) Price $400 to $700. Is that nuts, yes. Ok, under 40 year old group. First want none to do with grandfather's firearms. Want a firearms that shoot out 100 rounds a second. Firearms have to be high tech. Cost $1,000 - $1,500 ranger. Yes, people will pay that and more. People can go to Walmark and get a firearm cost less than going to a gun show. Ammo: Cost of ammo for a Winchester Model 94, 20 arounds $30.00 that at Walmark and gun shows. Hunting: Less people are doing it that 10 years back. Add up all I wrote about I see the end of gun shows coming. My view only. What your view on this?

Seriously doubt that background checks and sales tax are the cause of your perceived demise. Having been a frequent traveler to gun shows in New England, eastern Pennsylvania and southern New York and Long Island those things are not the problem. I would say it is the general lack of se******n and more non firearm merchandise then actual firearms at these shows. When the se******n is of more interest to collectors of war memorabilia then h****rs and shooters, why go. When you can walk into Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, Field & Stream or any local gun shop and find many more firearms to choose from then the beat up samples I have seen of late at the shows why bother making the trip. The background check is nothing more then a minor annoyance and most times the dealers at the shows eat the sales tax.

Well I know paperboys existed still back in the seventies, as I was one. Except we were called "your paper delivery carrier" as there were both girls and boys doing their paper routes. Also still in the Eighties as then I was a weekend route supervisor getting the papers to the kids.
