Today was at a local gun show. Sat with a friend for about four hours. In that four hours about 30 people show up. Only saw 3 fire arms sold. Talk to people who where selling firearms, their were telling me that is was the four show their have done and none is moving. What is going on? My views of what is going on. Live in New York State(Northern New York) all sale of firearms had to have background check of the person buying the firearms. Cost of this by a dealer is $25 to $30. Add sale tax on to the cost of the forearm. So one has a added cost of $40 to $50. This will stop people buying. What kind of firearm is selling? Age of the person will tell you that. A person my age(73) is looking for firearms made before 1960s, this is true of Winchester's firearms made before 1964. Because of that the price of firearms my age group want have getting to the point of over price themselves out of the market. Winchester Model 94 ( The deer rifle of Northeast US) Price $400 to $700. Is that nuts, yes. Ok, under 40 year old group. First want none to do with grandfather's firearms. Want a firearms that shoot out 100 rounds a second. Firearms have to be high tech. Cost $1,000 - $1,500 ranger. Yes, people will pay that and more. People can go to Walmark and get a firearm cost less than going to a gun show. Ammo: Cost of ammo for a Winchester Model 94, 20 arounds $30.00 that at Walmark and gun shows. Hunting: Less people are doing it that 10 years back. Add up all I wrote about I see the end of gun shows coming. My view only. What your view on this?

Gun sales are booming, the shows that deal with the Garrand & M1 (WWII, Korea) are no longer desired unless your in our age bracket, and don’t have much of the public’s interest. Cuomo has done everything to discourage the selling, making, or anything else to do with firearms.

Regretfully, some time in the near future the i***ts in Washington will learn the true reason for the Second Amendment.

That firearm doesn’t exist, not even the GE electric gun can fire at that rate!

I’m sure it would be a very interesting debate. People should be able to express their opinion in a healthy and intelligent way. Unfortunately in today’s society if your views are different than the other party, you will be called out, and heaven knows what the final concense of you would be. It really is a shame what is happening to our country.

God Bless

Background Checks -- "IF" this is the primary reason folks are not purchasing weapons in the State of NY @ Gun Shows -- That's a tad scary when you consider all those other States that don't require checks @ Gun Shows ---

PS: I'm an Ex-Marine that does not want Civilians owning "semi automatic" weapons --

Sorry, but maybe you should be posting this on a firearm forum. As I pointed out, I own several firearms and am pro 2nd Amendment, and posting anything about fireaarms on a photography forum would the furthest from my mind, but to each his own I guess. For the record though, gun shows have been on the decline for many years now.

In Maryland the buyer must get a background check and attend a course at the dealer's location. Cost is at least ~200 bucks. Local gun show coming next week and is always jammed, even though there is an entrance fee.

Ken Stern: I wrote was that background check is one of the reasons for gun show going out.
tdozier3: You wrote: "For the record though, gun shows have been on the decline for many years now" I asking why
sodapop: All gun show entrance fee. I not writing about that.
Would someone explain what the hell is General Chit-Chat (non-photopraphy talk) is for. If it not for non-photopraphy talk, than what is it?
