I have started a fuji kit recently sold most of my Sony gear.
These len's are highly desired by Fuji users. Especially the 16mm.
Don't want to insult you would you consider a lesser price.
Thanks Tom

The cage great idea. Good plan. We will see if you like the cage thing.
I have a few sitting in the closet. Sound like you have a good plan.
The newer camera's have great LED's. But they are not good enough
for some work. Viewfinders are great today but not enough.
Good luck sounds like fun

I have had 3 RX100s. And currently have Mark 4. Not sure why you wan't
shutter count. To sell the camera? From the time I bought this camera on a
a lark because a major magazine said the RX100 is a great invention
these camera's have been a pleasure and productive. Recently I hadn't
used mine and the zoom froze. I googled it and it said run start and stop
and then I just gave it a pull and everything was alright.
Sorry if I wonder what you thought is. Good luck.

Jerry it is not a medical deduction but a brain induction.Very funny.
My short term memory is kaput. But 90% of recall and after a few seconds
I think I am ok. And I can drive my SUV safely and well.
As for your camera's good mental exercise.

Since I mentioned here that I had bought Fuji gear and sold most of Sony.s
The fuji's are different and a learning curve. To their credit they have more friendly
information in their magazine, emails etc. Working with menu's and youtubes
and great write-ups by their mentors.

Good luck and don't let the camera's bang into each other.

Good morning to all "Hoggers"

Looking for a personal recommendation

I am interested in buying a small, maybe 5 inch, 6 inch or 7 inch and diagonal display-control monitor which would mount on top of my DSLR or mirrorless R5 Camera...

There are so many different units out there, with so many specifications that vary, I'm at a loss for finding the right direction in which to go. Price or low price it's not an absolute necessity... The key is value for the money spent.

I would like to mounted either on my "camera frame" or my hot shoe attachment, connected via the HDMI in / out port and be able to control all of the functionality of the camera itself from the monitor...

I have done research, b, searching this form and have not been able to find any writings on the subject so, I would appreciate any feedback from individuals who are actually going through such a scenario.

My objective is to have a much better, precise and tight control of viewing my images for landscape photography, night time photography and maybe even astrophotography for Milky Way Type shots.

Any and all input would be greatly appreciated for I just don't know where to begin. I've done digital photography for almost 10 years now and this is a New Concept for me.

PS ~~ I am a Canon user / owner and I know that there are monitors out there that use either dual-battery or accommodate LP - E6 battery. My preference is to find a unit that will accommodate the Canon battery since I already have eight of them.

Thanks in advance to everyone

Cheers

Good morning to all "Hoggers" br br Loo... (show quote)

Probably best to here from someone that does a lot of video. At least I was until covid. For example I have an Ikan 5" monitor for my mirrorless camera's. The issue with even this budget unit it is clumsy mounted to the
top if carrying around. That said smaller then 5" is about the same as good monitor on the camera's like my Sony's. If you are using a tripod most of the time maybe a good idea. Their are a lot of cheap monitors
on Amazon buy one and try it. The really good ones are really expensive. Video people struggle with a monitor audio connection and mic and maybe a LED light if needed. With all of this it is a mess.
You can put it on an arm l like flash people do. Not great. So my suggestion is buy a cheap china one
and try it out. Then maybe go for Small HD brand. Good luck.

I think I may be right. The developing desire to shoot video with
your DSLR or mirrorless got sensor makers like Sony to make improvements
to the sensors. My Sony a7s II has an amazing sensor and it is a low light
wonder. Producers and video shooters use camera's like this for pro video.
Just my take.

Most of the advice Jerry is good common sense. When my wife and I were in our twenties I finally started to make some money in and advertising agency when I had a week off I said do you want to go to Jamacia or buy a new frig. She said "let's go where are my bathing suits'" Credit card companies and banks are gangsters now.
Some of the things I know: a mortgage is the worse kind of borrowing. 10 or 15 years later we find out that
we have not paid much off the house with a loan that fronts the interest. Don't go to Starbucks too expensive.
Well when I had recently moved to Hallandale FL the first thing if did was go to starbucks. Starting talking to a few folks one young guy helped me lot with resource's and work ops. Sometimes the price of coffee is not the story. I did very well in content marketing, graphics art studio and production company. I stashed quite a bit.
But when grandson was diagnosed with autism and my daughter's marriage fell apart she needed help for years.
I gave them whatever they needed. And whatever would recover my grandson and camps and sports for my grandkids. Her X was not much help. And I spent a lot on them. Working in a lot of charities and having been able to help even if I am a little short in my 4k I feel blessed with my life. I am working on creative stuff now.
PS My daughter became famous in the autistic care and natural in cannibus meds. Wrote a book. She was listed last year as one of the 3 most influential women in USA in recovery and new meds for children.
“Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans” – John Lennon.
PS My wife had a catastrophic stroke last year. Where are we at 74 and 77 living in a lovely small house behind my daughter's that happened to be disabled ready. Life is not predictable. Either are our finances.
Stay safe my friends and Happy Easter. T

Jerry they are running out of titles. The thing is some of their foreign movies and great movies or series are very good. Only they have one word or something stupid. I check the reviews and try and find the gems.
What would we do with cover without netflix. Stay safe. Be well.

Your friend is a photographer, not a market analyst. The price of pro gear is mostly due to limited market and high R&D and marketing expenses. What you get is usually cutting edge performance and handling - something that the pros really enjoy.

On a typical HD screen - 1920x1080 or 1920x1200, a picture taken with a cellphone camera and its tiny sensor will look amazing, even compared to something out of a D850. The limiting factor is the resolution of the display - 2 mp or slightly higher. Even on a 4K display (8.8 mp), the cellphone image is going to look pretty good.

Printing will always show the strength of a full frame or larger camera, and conversely the weakness of tiny sensors.

When a client is paying for your services, it is certainly incumbent upon you to provide the best possible images. Based on how an image is going to be used, that might require anything from a cellphone camera (for photojournalism) to a medium format camera for product, industrial and fashion photography.

I use all three - a Pixel XL phone, a Sony RX10M4 (1" sensor) and a D810 full frame. There is no question that of the three, the D810 offers the best quality images especially when you need to crop and/or use it in crummy light. Can't say the same for the others.

Here are some sample images from the Sony:

I always admire you posts. They are very helpful and intelligent. I had the Sony RX10 III the first bridge with the 600mm lens. As you have said I believe some critics were wrong. The visuals are very good. The camera good for everything. And shooting only had a problem with a long zoom focus shot in dim light like a soccer game late in the day. And the big time pro camera's. I - bought 2 of the first D800 had problems. I bought them for video. We shift our kit's according to our work and lives. I have been selling my Sony cameras and lens. At my age now find work gone this year Fuji a joy to work with. Just learning what they can do. Bought into asp-c as good for my work at this point. Still kept a Sony a7s II. Thanks for your thoughts.

Yeh the camera makes an impression. You could walk in with the best Leica and small might be smart.
I shot a video in their office for an industrial company early last year. My good friend wanted me to
do this for him. When we walked around scouting with one of the executives I took the Sony RX10 3 bridge camera.
When I came back for the one day shoot I brought a Sony Camcorder
with mic's etc. He said Tom you brought the pro stuff great. This man technical. Worked at Kodak. is amazing full size camcorder make his day.

I recently started building a Fuji kit. Selling my other Sony FF gear funded it. So far amazed by the 2 bodies I bought and lens the images and video. And the pricing aps-c is great. Bought into leaving FF.

The best bridge ever is the Sony RX10 24-600. Used it for everything. Great Soccer on field level. Long shots
i never would have tried. Covering an college event my son one of the speakers all from my seat in the first row.
Cut a video for him. No lighting. This camera has always been great. I was a guest at NASCAR. And parachuter jumped from a plane to land on the track. I thought I am never getting this shot straight up. Got video and stills.
Good luck you bought a good camera.

This is a waste of time. Nikon or Canon? Mirrored or Mirrorless. Chevy or Ford. All good things and machines.
Their seems to be a war conceptually here over 2 wonderful kinds of camera's. The machines called camera's generally work beautifully. And are amazing that a device so small and can do so much. Kudo's to the manufacturers and designers of these camera's. And my question is how Fuji or Nikon don't dont build many camera's anymore and China, Thailand etc can do a great job for Nikon and Fuji etc. From what I read we can't make the smart phones here. No supply chain, labor qualified and a sense of pride.
I am not as smart and some here are really knowledgeable.
Here is my quote out of google and the reason I like mirrorless
"The preview on the screen of a mirrorless camera will look close to the final image."
EVF's are doing a great job. Where are we in this. Why is everything we pick up from Asia.
We are a great country and great people? Spend to much time arguing with ourselves.
Stay safe. Keep shooting

OK something is strange here. I shot stills for years. I am very appreciative of still photos that tell a story or are very creative in composition. I try and shoot artistic sometimes. I also shoot video of triathlons and running festivals.I use a Sony 10 bit camcorder and a Sony a7s II FF camera or bridge camera. And I extract good still frames from the video (not 4k not needed) tweak color adjust sometimes. Send to client the next day and they love using them as PR photos. I edit the videos for promo all year to next event. We can multi purpose our gear for different uses and intent. The value of creative imagery is one of my passions. I recently sold some gear and am building a Fuji kit. Fuji is amazing. It is a creative approach to photography. The color presets in the camera are great fun. The camera's are superb. They include everything and the culture of the company and people who
work in National Geo etc. Video is in our society way over the top. Don't use it. Problem solved.

I think we went through this concept of "why do I have to pay for video" a while ago.
The introduction of video into a Nikon first. But most of all the Canon DSLR that created making good video
to create short videos. This created an enormous surge of indie video creators that I think led to youtube and our video society. Sony created the a7 camera's which could be used matched up to quality camcorders as 2nd camera or B camera. Weddings were not stills anymore most of video production.
Camera work or art is about visual imagery. And I use mine for video and stills.
