Is there a camera made just for stills?

It seems like every new camera that comes out says, "focused more toward video than stills"...... I know vlogging is the new thing, but - I would love to see a camera that doesn't have all the video stuff and is focused more toward stills. Is there such a camera ? Have I missed it?

Vlogging, everybody's doin' it, doin' it, doin' it......

I bought my camera for still use, I don't care that it does video.
(But it's nice if I do desire to utilize that function.)

I didn't hear the camera whispering to me "Use the video, use the video."

You seem to be reading different reviews from those I've seen of the recent DSLR and MILC releases. This similar question (from Feb 2021 with 157 replies) probably hashes out all the recent thinking: https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-687455-1.html

A camera that couldn't shoot video would not sell very well. The ability to video doesn't detract from the performance of the camera, so if you don't want to use it, don't.

Nikon Df has no video capability to muck things up.

All my cameras can do video. They would only be focused more toward video if I was focused more toward video. It's in the mind, not the camera.

Repurpose the video button to do something else. Then you have a camera that only shoots stills.

I just wish I could buy a new car that didn't include AM radio. After all, I never listen to AM, so why did I have to pay for it.

I don't need appliances with blue tooth/WIFI either.
(Or "smart" bulbs...)

I don't think my Wisner 4x5 or my Mamiya 330 will do videos

It's next to impossible to 'search' this site. A topic that gets into the hundreds of responses can sometimes be easier to remember, but I had to scroll back on pages to find this 'recent' thread as I couldn't find it via search either.

What's more important to consider is that creating a non video camera is for a customer base of next to no one. Video doesn't add cost nor complexity to a video camera, doing the opposite does as that creates a duck in a world of swans.

I guess I just imagined the "video section" of the camera to be taking up space that could be utilized by some magical image quality thingy.... ha ha - I totally understand the demand.

Good to know - (that video doesn't add cost nor complexity to camera) - like I said to Jerry, I guess I imagined the video section of my cameras to be this large, unused, wasted space, that could be utilized for better image quality etc... Since I can't yet afford the r5, I'm still lugging my very heavy 7Dii - I like to blame the video section for the weight ... HA HA HA

I am not sure we can count the Nikon Df. It seems that Nikon stops making it. If you count cameras that are no longer in production then there were plenty.
