A thousand years ago, humans and their domesticated animals made up 2% of the mammal biomass on earth. Now, it is 90%. (source: The Human Age by Diane Ackerman)

Economist think populations need to grow; I (and Diane Ackerman) think there are more people on this planet than this planet can support.

Everyone seems to be using the "send a code" method of proving who one is nowadays.

Yes, but google (and Apple too, I think) send a code to (their authentication app on) one of your other devices, but don't tell you which device. They just say "check your other devices". I agree with Jerry, it is very annoying.

My son and I each have the Moto e6, $43.19, delivered.

My first smart phone was around $100, but it was frustrating due to the lack of build-in memory.
Since then I have been using Moto G7's: price usually starts at around $250, but I wait (for them to get the bugs out, and) until they drop below $200. Moto's don't usually get good reviews, but they have worked fine for me. They do everything that I need (except AirDrop... an apple only thing).

If your phone's (or Tablet's) camera doesn't support QR codes, there are separate apps (like "QR & Barcode Reader") that will do it.

The dancing, tumbling, music, and choreography were beautiful. The politics presented rather spoiled the beauty.

I saw it probably 10 years ago (as others have said, it is worth seeing once).

I only remember one brief political statement (against the practices of the Chinese government). I didn't mind it, but my friend (who was recently from China) didn't appreciate it. At the time, she was still defending the Chinese government. She still thinks of China as home, but could no longer live with the lack of freedom there.

If one is interested in having Sirius XM, why not simply write a check for the subscription period, and not give them a credit/debit card number? That way, when renewal comes up, you have option of not writing another check.

I don't know if they take checks, but several of my credit cards provide virtual credit card numbers, so that you can cancel any of the virtual numbers without canceling your real CC number (or any of the other virtual numbers).

5 bucks a month plus the royalty fee for 2 years with a right to cancel at any time.

I have had a similar deal for probably 10 years now. $6 to $7 per month total (one car radio plus web/app streaming for where ever else I need it) for a year at a time. Evey year, I renew. If they say that deal is no longer available, I say that I will cancel, and they magically find a deal in that range.

Does LibreOffice read old and new Microsoft Word documents?
Yes

Even password protected ones?

At one time, it did not. I am honestly interested in knowing if they have found a way to do that.

Office 2021 for $40. I have bought from them several times. Correction: I just notice that you said Mac, this is for PC. Office for Mac is not so cheap:

Softwarehubs is a Microsoft Certified Reseller, and this is completely legit (you will actually get the license from Microsoft itself, and install it into your Microsoft account). I have gotten Office from other "Grey Market" resellers in the past for ~$20, but in a year or so, it may or may not still be working.

Depends on how close you are to the mailbox limit and what account you have.. Some people got upgraded from 15GB to 20GB after hitting 12GB in use...They had a legacy account...

Thanks, That would explain it. I am only at 10.5 GB. I guess I need to stuff my mailbox for a while!

Right, but the point is: Her storage limit increased and mine didn't.

Has anyone else noticed their limit going up from 15GB (without paying real money to google)?

She certainly does more shopping than I do, maybe they decided her data is worth more.

I didn't spend that much for a (used) car in 1981.

I've always been able to see my Spam folder.

In settings/labels, you can set Spam to "show if unread", then it will show up if something goes into it.

That works for a lot of other folders, but not for Trash. Trash is either show or don't.

My storage with Google has dropped from 4.78GB to 3.94 out of 15GB available.

Hijacking the topic a bit, but my wife's Gmail/Google storage recently increased from 15GB to 20GB. Mine is still at 15GB. (She has always been closer to the limit than me, but other than that) I have idea why. Neither of us are paying Google. Has anyone else noticed this?
