Yeah- Wall-E is right. Adobe has taken away one specific option, but you still have a choice - subscribe/don't subscribe. Then there are all kinds of processing programs out there that do a great job - none as powerful as CC, to be sure, but most people do not use but a fraction of what Photoshop offers anyway and those that do use a fuller set of tools will subscribe because nothing else can do the WHOLE job.

Boy, there is a lot of whining about this! Nobody cares if you like it or not. It is what it is.

Not whining sir but I like choices. You are right I can choose to subscribe or not to subscribe.

How has Adobe taken away your choice?

You still have the option of buying CS6 and having it forever.
You just have to understand that there will be no more updates to it.

Or you can choose to use some other pp software, like Gimp, or Corel PaintShop, or..............

Or you can pay the $9.99/month and get the latest versions of PhotoShop and LightRoom for as long as you pay.

YOUR CHOICE.

PS: Costco hasn't taken away your choice of cooking spray. They just aren't presenting it to you at YOUR preferred location.
You still have the option of going to a 'regular' grocery store to purchase it. Same with Ford. They stopped making "moon roof's", but that doesn't prevent you from having one installed as an aftermarket. Again, YOUR CHOICE.

I don't get your definition, my choice is to get something that I do not desire?

You won't find it offered on the Abobe site's subscription pages until it become live, sometime in the middle of September. What you can find is the announcement of the offer that explains this and other details. Here: http://blogs.adobe.com/creativelayer/introducing-the-photoshop-photography-program/

So a few days to wait yet.

I still think it is a bad deal. I was in Costco last week looking to buy a couple of cans of PAM but there was not any. I ask the supervisor when they would be getting some more PAM in. She informed that Kirkland had replaced PAM with there own brand. I informed the supervisor that I did not think it was a good idea taking away a persons choice of items to buy.

This is the same way that I feel about ADOBE who has taken away my choice. Like Ford, you can no longer get a Moon Roof, it is panoramic or nothing. I would love to buy a new Ford Escape, but they don't come with moon roofs. What happen to giving a person a choice?

Interesting but out-of-date since Adobe announced their new $9.99/month permanent rate for PS+LR through the Cloud.

I understand, I was only offering a bit more information. I still have not found the $9.99 price on the Adobe site. Where did you see it on the Adobe site?

I am not sure if I am doing this correctly but here goes. A couple of days ago I posted a discussion regarding Nikon D800 and Lexar 1000X card. This is the end results, even though I had the new 25 in one USB 3.0 card reader it was not compatible with the new UDMA7 format. Lexar was ready to replace the 1000X card and replace my reader with a new UDMA7 3.0 reader at no charge.

I had an old UDMA reader, the tab to open it was broken that why I ordered the 25-1-one reader. I tried the reader with the 1000X card, it worked all the files were imported without and problems and no color bars on the images. Who would had thought that a card reader could cause so much trouble.

My hat is off to Lexar/Micron Consumer Products Group, they seen to have excellent customer service.

You do not need the Internet to use the programs. You download the complete programs. They are resident on your computer. So there is no problem there. The only thing is that your computer must be connected once a month (I've also heard once every 90 days for some pay options) so that Adobe can certify that your subscription is current.

This is one of the huge misconceptions about the new Cloud subscription concept.

I also have CS6 and LR 3 and have not seen the need to upgrade to the Cloud at the previous prices, but now that they've sweetened the deal, I think I'll go for it when it becomes available.

Yes it would convenient but in my estimation you would still lose money. At 19.99 a month that is 239.88 a month and after five years, that is if there are no increase from Adobe it is $1199.40. If you wait for sales and discounts ones could by 2 or 3 full version in 5 years for a cheaper price.

I see Adobe have just announced a new Creative Cloud package aimed at photographers for $9.99 a month. Only snag is that you have to own CS3 or a later version to get it. It includes both Photoshop and Lightroom but not the other main programs of the Cloud.

I had been balking at going with the Cloud up until now, but I'll probably go for this.

I just visited Adobe I saw that the price is $19.99 a month. I did not see anything for $9.99 a month. http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/photography.edu.html.

I am not sure how this subscription thing works but I think you need access to the internet. Most photographer travel as I do this could be a problems. Some resort only offer internet access for a price ($9.95 for 24 hrs or $19.95) this is the same for most airports, hotels in Los Vegas, and traveling on a plane. Some motels/hotels offer limited or no internet at all. I see a very big problem for photographers who travels or visit relatives or friend who do not have access to internet or WiFi is not configured correctly.

The 2-slot reader is the one I have.
Hope this takes care of your problem.
Not sure, but if you had bought a lesser-known brand, you may not be getting this service.

You are so right.

If they are both manufactured by the same company (Lexar) and are the latest renditions which I believe the 1000's are they may not be compatible with the 800. Call the manufacturer.

I called Nikon this morning they say they have no information that the card does not work in the D800.

I recently had issues with a transcend 64GB card and my D800.i went back to the 32Gb and the problem was solved

Lexar is replacing the card. They are saying even though I have their latest 25-in-One USB 3.0 reader it may not be compatible with the UDMA 7 card. They are saying that I need the two slot UDMA 7 reader.

When you bought the card did you get the tiny booklet with the restore app link I think there is a fix option for corrupt files I would delete them off of the card and then restore using rescue4 that came with the card and see what that looks like. Unfortunately it sounds like the card is faulty, did you format when you put it in the camera. Use another card and see what happens. If all others work return cards and get a replacement.

This is my second card with the same problem, they both were format on the PC and in the camera.

I never download directly from my camera, I always use a card reader. I use Lexar cards exclusively and have never had a problem.

jiestar, I noticed that there is a skip in the sequence at one point it goes from 9232.nef to 9362.nef.

If you are importing straight from your card to LR try downloading the images from your card to a created new folder on your desktop and then into LR and see if the problem still exist, may be a transfer problem.

jiestar, good afternoon, I did as you advised with the same results, so it seems as if all the files are corrupted.
