It will print any size up to 13" x 19" to the best of my knowledge.

[quote=gitano48]From personal experience can any of the many astute Hedgehoggers recommend a good quality color printer that doesn’t break the bank (under $300) with good fidelity and is reliable?

I've been using the Canon iP8720 for a couple of years now and with no problems, even with third party inks. I use a calibrated monitor, and get good results. It's available for $279.99 at present through the Canon website.

Thanks, Erik. I've been using the magnifier, and it's sure got the detail that a big lens can deliver on a distant subject.

Well Done! I'm left wondering what DDL stands for though?

I find the flat bed scanners slow. Having to put the slides into and out of the holders is time consuming. I purchased a Nikon Coolscan on eBay and it was faster. Sold when I compiled scanning.

I use an Epson Perfection 4990 Photo for my print scans and 4 x 5 negative scans, and a Nikon Cool Scan V for my 35mm film and slide scans. My Paint Shop Pro 2021 seems to be the best program for me to enhance and touch up the scans that I get from these, with an occasional bump up in sharpness from Topaz Sharpen AI.

Here is copy of a comparison of Paintshop Pro 2022 new features to older versions.

Since I am currently using PSP 2021 and see no improvements listed that I can't live without, I will wait and see what 2023 has to offer and will wait until their sale price drops below $40 as it usually does later in the year.

I dropped my A77 ll, sent it to Precision Camera in Enffield Connecticut. Had to replace the in camera focus slider.
$450.00 to repair. Repair took 1 month. Really great customer service contact agents. Camera came back like new.

I had a similar situation myself when a grandson got hold of her A77 II and it hit the floor from about 36" - The camera still works, but has an error message come up in the LCD display - a picture of a orange hand with double parenthesis and the word Error displayed near the upper center of the display. Occasiionally, the camera will hang up and have to be shut off and back on to keep shooting. Otherwise seems to be doing OK. I checked out Precision Camera for repair of this model, and their quote was $498 +$45 shipping. There was no way that I would put out that much for a discontinued camera line that will be as extinct as the dinosaur in another decade or so. Instead I bought a well taken care of low "mileage" A77II from another hogger, and will keep the other as a spare. Just my thoughts FWIW.

Yes, I would be interested in it. Will check with my wife to see if she would want the lens also.

Hey, Mundy, two thoughts:

B & H are good people. Mac's reply is right on! Call them and discuss their warranty with them.

Take a look at Amazon for the D-850. They have new USA models for less than the price you show from B & H. Amazon, like B & H will let you return the camera, no questions asked, for 30 days. And if it is a USA model you will have the Nikon Warranty.

Just some thoughts. Good luck with your purchase.

P.S. are you aware that 97.8 % of all new cameras, including Grey's, never need warranty repair during the initial one year mfg warranty period? Don't you wish you could buy a lottery ticket offering you those odds??
Hey, Mundy, two thoughts: br br B & H are goo... (show quote)

In regards to buying a camera from Amazon, my brother in law recently bought a Canon through them and their NY store affiliate, and after taking photo's for a few months found that embedded into the EXIF was a copyright by Kim X (a photographer from the west coast) who had apparently bought the camera new, sent it back - where the camera store reboxed it as new and sold it to my brother in law through Amazon. He has since learned to put his own copyright on his shots through the camera's menu system and is very unhappy about paying for a "new" camera and getting a used one in its place. He did say that it was not B&H but did not remember the company's name.

BTW Have you looked at MBP for used gear? I've found them excellent to deal with, both buying and selling.

Not yet, but will give them a try. Mad at myself on passing up a low shutter count A77II in excellent+ condition a while back for $450 - but wife would not Ok the purchase and now they're about double that from what I've seen.

Thanks for the update, still leaning towards keeping the older system we now have rather than start fresh if we can snag a A77 II at a good price. Looking forward to a trip in the fall up your way before the cruise ships get back into action. I suspect the crowds are as bad there already as it is here in Lower Delaware, roads nearly impassable on the weekends, and most weekdays as well.

Thanks for the quick reply Bob, I believe the adapter will work fine with the screw lenses that you have from the research I've done so far. It's very discourgaging to see the prices of the newer cameras so high recently compared to what they were a month or two ago. Could be supply and demand issues I suppose. We do have an A77 model that's still working fine, so may hold off awhile. We'll see.

[quote=pbcbob]Best luck to you too.

Bob, I was wondering how you are liking the feel/operation and photo results compared to your A77 II - and if you are using an adapter with your older Alpha lenses or starting new with the E lenses. Reason I'm asking is that my wife's A77II is giving an error message in the LCD and occasionally locks up (as if the mirror locks up) and has to be shut down and powered back on to get it back to working again, so we're considering on finding a good place to send it out to repair, find a good used one to replace it with or "upgrade" to the A6600 and get the adapter so she can use the half dozen various Alpha lenses we currently own. Anyone else faced with a similar situation or have any advice, feel free to jump in. This could start a whole 'nuther topic!

A video card that I'm using that doesn't require an extra 6-8 pin connector for extra current and is reasonably fast for the money is a ATI Radeon 560 for $280 new on ebay - or if your system is too old to justify upgrading, check out this gaming system from Dell - https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktop-computers/dell-g5-gaming-desktop/spd/g-series-5000-desktop/gd5090g510s?gacd=9614064-1052-5763017-266796622-0&dgc=st&ds_rl=1291002&msclkid=e2b047a017c81eeb62a7276135e9eca5&gclid=e2b047a017c81eeb62a7276135e9eca5&gclsrc=3p.ds&nclid=W6JaoviAGHED6qLmdQydUcTO-NFAoVQeJh1w0ZqZtDw-l30o3WLoDqZKec3Pd-gn&configurationid=b1c47b05-4d8e-48d2-8959-a3e26bbec483 for $1130. Amazon Prime day is coming up, and you may be able to snag a deal.
