I would encourage you to give the Canon a try first. i recently purchased the Z7 partly because I am Long familiar with Nikon, I know their settings, I like the ergonomics and am Pleased with the images they make. You may find staying with the Canon family more to your liking. In the end it’s ultimately about the images you make so if you’re a long time Canon photographer I think you’re likely to be pleased with images from their new mirrorless cameras as well. All these differences in burst rate, auto focus etc. Btw manufacturers that reviews keep harping on are overstated, with some particular exceptions like BIF, for most photography IMO. So try them all and see for yourself!

I tried the Godox units in manual mode not TTL mode. I need to use the remote for fill flash as well as a key light so manual mode is important.
CO thank you, just what I need to know. PW has discontinued the mini-TT1 so I will be purchasing two Flex-TT5 units.

I have a new z7 an an older SB700 flash which I wish to control with a radio trigger. I tried the Godox X1/X2 but the X2 cannot control the flash output, although it will fire. Does anyone know if the Pocket Wizard TT5 can control the flash output for my SB700? The flash works well for me and I need a remote trigger option
I’m not keen to spend the $$ to move up to the SB 5000, but if PW cannot remotely control my flash I may have to bite the bullet.

This year we used Staples and the results were quite reasonable and the prices were less than 1/2 what Shutterfly quoted.

I purchased my Z7 refurbished as I also did with my DSLR. From a reputable dealer like B&H I wouldn’t hesitate purchasing it if you’re in the market. By the way, I would say the photos from this camera, the colors, the interface, the ergonomics are really astounding.

I am offering up my used d7100 body (less than 12,000 shutter actuations) as well as a Nikkor 17/55 f2.8 lens. The body is excellent, the lens has a chip missing from the filter flange which has no negative impacts on filter use. The lens is otherwise perfect, its the only pro model Nikon made for Dx bodies.
Asking $300 usd for the body and $325 for the lens. Body comes with charger, battery, strap, cap. Lens has all caps. Pictures attached.

I’m leaving to Cuba for a 4 day trip. A private tour for two with a guide. Staying at a top hotel in Havana. I would greatly appreciate any advice on places that are good for street photos, street portraits and any tips on what should not be photographed. Also, any other advice to assure a safe and healthy experience. Thanks, BJW

You’ll find Cuba to be very safe and a pleasant place to visit. I was there in 2016. The Cuban people love Americans. The 3 major plazas are all excellent locations for photography as is the Moro Castle and evenings along the sea wall at the Malacon. There are a number of pedestrian only shopping streets (name escapes me) with lots of activity and festive dancing. Near the Floridita bar made famous by Hemingway, which features a life size bronze statue of Papa. My next trip will be a 2 week auto trip from Havana to Santiago de Cuba.

Also for consideration i recommend the 17-55 zoom, the only "professional" quality Dx lens in the Nikon world. I have it and use it for wide angle landscape as well as general photography. I purchased mine used from B&H.

Interesting that you consider the 24-70 zoom preferable to the 3 primes. Thanks RGP.

I'm considering two different lens purchase options this holiday season. Currently shooting in DX with d7100, my lenses inlcude the 17-55, a 35 and the kit lens 55-200. At some point down the road I expect to switch to a full frame camera, maybe the replacement for the d750. In any case I'd like to hear thoughts about whether to purchase the Nikon 24-70 f2.8 or conversely for about the same cost purchase the 20 f1.8, the 35 f1.8 and the 85 f1.8. The three lenses cover more that the expensive zoom. As I do a combination of landscape and general family portraiture I'm thinking these are both reasonable approaches.

I had problems with my 35mm Dx lens over the weekend and a 24mm (older), lens yesterday. It seems if I set to single point focus there are no problems. But if I switch to multi-point focusing the problem eventually comes back. Though as I said, the first few clicks seem to work fine, and then no joy.

Lately my D7100 autofocus has been acting up. After working for a few clicks it stops focusing automatically. Anyone on the forum seen this problem? Corrected it?
