You trying to say Northridge was a 'negative' experience?

Hello AK, I'm kind of on your side with this. I don't think it would do this site any good to keep splitting it into more categories either. Maybe management could set up some sort of 'standard' for threads that contain pictures, such as prefixing the thread names so you have 'some idea' of content type.
Ex: UNP - unprocessed (my favorite)
PP - post processed
HDR - composite photo
MAC - macro
B&W - black & white
Might get too complicated. Probably would NEVER get everybody to conform , knowingly or unknowingly and there would still be some overlap of content. But I know what you mean. Nothing against post processing but I would'nt mind seeing more pictures straight out of the camera. Hard to break OLD habits. Virgil

Nobody noticed the one horse laying down to keep warm. There used to be a farm near here that had two round barns on it that I'd like to shoot with my NEW 60d (if I can ever get away from this site). Also read an article many, many years ago of a retired couple that roamed the country repainting barns as a sort of hobby. Never forgot that - thought it was pretty neat of them. Love your part of the country. That's AMERICA to me.
Nice shot! Virgil

We call these flickers on this side of the country--and I wish I could catch them with my camera. We have 10 or 12 that eat all the suet on our feeders but are very shy. If I even darken my own window, they fly off before I can think about hitting the shutter release. Great shots.

Birds are interesting. Cardinals are jittery also. I doubt if you will ever see a mated pair at a feeder at the same time. They take turns standing guard.

My 60d went to sleep on me a couple of times last time out. I am using canon lens, battery grip with two freshly charged batteries. When I start to take a picture it will not focus. I hit the live view shooting button to take the picture which seems to wake the camera up because I then can go back to view finder and everything seems ok. I have ordered two new batteries thinking that the ones I have might be suspect even tho' they show that they are completely charged. Wonder if anyone else has had this problem. Have not had the camera very long so I am still trying to figure out the bells and whistles.

Bells & whistles alright! About ready to buy ear plugs!!
I've only had my 60d since 12/17. I haven't had mine out of the basement family room yet. I've tried to read the manual through but find myself going back and forth. Got up to the video part and quit. I tried mine to see if I had this problem but I'm playing around in my basement with it and couldn't make it act like that. You might want to look page 80 in the manual to see if any of that applies. I doubt it.
I downloaded the manual to my PC and use it to look things up. I go to the last page of the file, page back to the index, find what I want, enter the page number below, hit <enter> and read it a little easier on the old eyes. I even printed a few of the pages so I could cut down on the back and forth thing (especially when they refer to dial - it's like which dial is that?). Just a thought. Little bit of change from my Canon A-1.
Good luck. I'm sure some of this will be old hat someday.

When I am shooting with a lens hood on a Nikon lens, I have to use the center release points to remove/install the lens cap. That has to be one of the slippery surfaces on earth! The outer release points have lines cut into them to give a better grip.

Has someone come up with a grippier substance that can be applied to those release points?
I'm not sure what your lens cap looks like but you might take a hacksaw blade or a blade from a sabersaw and score some lines in it. The corners of the blades are probably pretty sharp. Watch those fingers!

Here's the rub - the CANON teleconverters only fit EF style lenses, and of them, only "L" series, and some selected Non-"L" lenses. In other words, they don't even fit all the EF lenses. Therefore, you couldn't attach an EF-S lens to any of the CANON tele's. So the answer to your question is still NO, you can not go F/F Camera-->tele-->EF-S lens.

I do not know if any other 3-rd party converters will do what you want.
I saw a third party one on the web that stated it would accept EF or EF-S. That made curious if that combination would work. Someone else stated that if it was possible it would cause vinegting. But depending on what you were doing, I suppose that could potentially be cropped.
Thanks

Just curious, since I like to play with combinations. Will an EF-S lens work on a full frame body with either a teleconverter or an extender in between? If so, what happens with the 1.6 factor?

On my very first vacation outing with my D7000, to Big Bend National Park, I think I learned more about what not to do than what I did well!! I did get a few nice shots, but shooting mostly in the heat of the day was a problem. Here's one that my wife took with her Powershot that came out very nice. P.S. It is totally untouched by any editing process!!
If you can do post processing I would try to make the top of the flower stem end within the photo. Then I wouldn't be wondering "what is up there that I can't see". Otherwise, I like it.

For Ian and Tilde:

I Just got off the phone with a good friend living in northern Minnesota near the Canadian border. He said that since early this morning the snow is nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature is dropping and is at about 15 degrees, and the north wind is expected to increase to near gale force. His photographer wife has done nothing all morning but sit with her nose to the kitchen window and just stare.

He says that if the weather gets much worse, he may have to let her in.

She had him fooled. She wasn't a photographer at all. She was a peeping Tomess!!

Not wanting to hijack a similar topic I wanted to share this with you good folks

Analemma photographs are made by taking a picture of the sun from the same place at the same time of day once or twice a week, for a year.
The results are quite amazing. The figure 8 tracks the earths wobble.

Thanks... I really appreciate it.

I'd be very uneasy having this thing anywhere near the circuitry in and of my digital. Computers and magnets DON'T mix!

I tried it once I know. My Canon A-1 mounted on my Canon auto bellows with a reversing ring and my FD 100mm Macro on.
It was fun putting it all together. Problem is I don't remember what I saw!!

Regarding Rachels statement of "using any lens on any camera" it is true for a lot of Canons lens and cameras but the EF-S series is not recommended for some of the cameras.
