It was the day I "shot" the President!! Got your attention? Was in July 1987, when President Reagan visited Danville, Indiana. I am not a pro but I was asked by the County Commissioners to be their official photographer. How could I refuse? No way. I was cleared by Secret Service and issued a small insignificant lapel button that was my freedom to go wherever. The President met for a short period of time with the Commissioners, myself and the White House Photographer being the only "shooters" in the room. The President and Indiana Gov. Orr were then shuffled to a room prior to his public speech in the courthouse rotunda. I was alone in the room with the President and Governor. Wow!! I then made my way to a 3rd floor balcony to try to capture scenes during the rotunda speech.
A whirlwind day. I shot color negative film, but have never had the images converted to digital. My only regret was not handing one of my cameras to the White House Photog. for a record shot of my participation.
My apologies for not rotating the 2 images.

So you were the second gunman on the grassy knowl ?? Oh wait wrong president
Only "guns" I carried were 2 quick shooting Nikons.
Congratulations on such a wonderful experience. Nice photos
What a neat experience and story to tell the grandkids.
I got to take a picture of President Kennedy when he visited Billings, MT in the summer of 1963. Used my grandmas Kodak Instamatic. The negative has been long since lost to time and the print was lost in a house fire in 1987, but I will always have that memory. Met Bill Clinton in Northridge, CA 1994, but have pretty much forgotten that one.
Thanks to all of you responding to my post. My experience was a "once in a lifetime" situation. I was even interviewed next day by one of Indy's TV stations and was on briefly) that evenings local news.

Nice shots. Right time/right place.
Given the Patriot Act and Homeland Security, you might want to think about how you combine word in emails - like you first sentence. Just a thought.

Why didn't I have my camera? I did shake hands with President Lyndon Johnson when he visited the hospital at Ft. Hood, but the only celebrity picture I got was in Korea in 1954.
I didn't do a very good job with coloring her dress, and she didn't need that to stand out. When I was working in Photoshop, students came in, and clear across the room would breathe, "Marilyn".
Marilyn Monroe
I gave that some thought but one only has to read on to get clarification.
Thanks for your comments.
Marilyn: that is one for your memory bank.
Nice...I have the greatest admiration for Ronald Reagan...that is a great opportunity and produced some great memories!
Thank you for sharing those.
