I have an aluminum OBEN AT-3586. It has twist lock legs. It will accommodate large full frame cameras with a heavy piece of lens. Using a JOBY wrist strap, the metal portion attaches to the bottom of my camera. I can slide my camera into the receiving part of the head of the tripod. A unique feature of this tripod is that one leg unscrews from the tripod. It can be fashioned into a monopod. The average price retails for under $200 perhaps closer to one hundred eighty dollars.

One thing to remember: Never leave the camera attached to the tripod. While moving the tripod, one can easily snap off their camera and lens. I have seen many a grown photographers cry when the bottom plate of their camera is broken in half.

I hope you will not be offended by my suggestion. If you are , please accept my apology.

Happy Shooting!

Scruples,
Thank you for your reply. I haven’t posted a lot on here so am a little new to this. I have seen your reply’s before and respect your decision. I did look at your suggestion and the only downside to it was the wet. Since my wife and I fly frequently and wgt. Can become a factor I would like your idea on the oven 3565t. It looks yo be very similar but the wgt is a little lighter. Also what about the BZ217T. Head?
Thanks
By the way my father in law lives in bay ridge..

Greetings,
I am looking for some honest feedback and opinions on tripod / monopod combo's. I am considering purchasing one. I have looked at a bunch and I am not sure now if there is one better then the other. I don't have to have carbon fiber but if the price was right would consider it. I am more leaning toward aluminum. I am 5'11" so hgt is consideration. I would like to stay around $150 - $200.
I have a Nikon 5600. My go to lens is a 18-140. I also have a 70-300.

Twist lock legs vs flip lock legs?

One I looked at Vanguard VEO2 235ab Aluminum another was MEFOTO Road trip Aluminum?

I do like the arca type lock system.
I have a befree Manfrotto and just not a fan of it. Maybe because it's the head and it's to small for my camera.

Thank You hogs..

Good idea. It looks like a real camera, it's easy to use, and it has a great zoom range. For the price, it's a perfect choice.

I agree with this. My son just bought the B500 for his GF who wanted to learn. She takes it everywhere and loves it. Great to learn on. Has enough for them to get started and takes nice pictures and has a good zoom. You can't go wrong for the money.

Since you are a people person look around for a local camera club and see if there is someone in a club that has some time to help you and mentor you. Also on FB there are groups called meet up's look around for on's in your area. There might be a group in your area that is meeting virtually ( at least right now ) and can help. Don't give up. Practice practice practice. That's what they told me.

In some neighborhoods amazon wants an app to unlock your door deliver your package inside your house and then lock your house. REALLY? Who thought of that idea?
The other problem with ordering stuff with amazon. I like to touch and feel what I am going to buy sometimes. I like to see what it is made of. Can't do that with amazon.

We went in August of 2017 with friends. We met them there as they were on a longer trip then us. We flew into Anchorage and spent the night and the next day we took the railroad up to Seward. This was absolutely one of the most beautiful parts of the trip. We spent the extra money for the dome car and are glad we did. We could see everything and I got to take great pictures. The cruise was great. Bring warm clothes since the weather can change. We had rainy and damp weather but it never spoiled out trip. Our friends were sick but my wife and I just kept going. Dress for the weather and enjoy. Alaska is beyond beautiful.. We plan to go back. I am lucky in that my brother use to live there and his wife's family lives in anchorage now. Just go and enjoy... Oh I used a 200mm and got nice shots

Thank you for your reply. I am at a stand still myself. After using a Sony nex3 with a 28-55 and a 70-200 lens I said I would get one lens that would be my go to lens. I recently bought a Nikon 5600 and guess what I have a 28-55 and a 70-300 now. I love the longer lens but find I am looking for a go to lens. A lens that will cover almost all the bases without having to spend a fortune. Any suggestions?
I am asking you since I like what you said in your reply.
Thanks

Hi All this is my first time posting here. I love the web site topics, and the pictures. I hope mine are that good some day. I recently took a beginner class and now shoot with a Nikon 5600. Moved from a Sony NEX3.
I am a frustrated beginner because I can't take a good picture. Everything is over exposed out of focus or something else. I am trying everything but Blah pictures. I am also having a problem visualizing a picture.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I so want to get this and take real nice pictures.
Thanks
