Thank you - I thought it would be pretty easy and straight forward.

Background: Hard drive on 27 iMac crashed. Bad drive was partitioned and all photos and LR cat files on separate partition of about 1 TB. Installed new hard drive. Installed new NVMe PCIe external drive. Installed Ventura and Adobe on external. Transferred all photo and cat files to new drive from backup. (External drive is 4 -5 times faster than desktop Mac) plus it saves me room on internal HD. When I first started with LR I was not using sidecar files, but switched to that several years ago. It just occurred to me that Adobe was installed on the partition not containing the photos. So I may not have the latest cat file on the photo partition.

Question: What do I need to do to get LR to use the last cat file I had on the old computer and to recognize the new file locations. And I don't want to lose any edits on the pre-sidecar photos. Or do I just simply add the new file locations to LR as an add?

Should be fairly simple and straight forward.

Thank you

Shutterfly is 3 times the cost of Costco. even with 50% off still more expensive.

Jay - following the email from Costco on 1/5/23, I went onto Shutterfly to make sure I still had an account with them. Then yesterday I received another email from Costco where they provided this link to transfer my photos:

https://accounts.shutterfly.com/costco

I had to enter my Costco membership #, and followed their steps; they said it would take 24-48 hours to transfer and would send a confirming email when complete. Got that email early this morning and confirmed that all my photos, as established in the folders on Costco had indeed transferred.

Next for me will be to produce a book - but that won't happen until I return from the Panama Canal in February.

They do it automatically once requested.
You should get an email from Costco regarding the transfer.
OR- maybe log into the Costco Photo website.

Who does what automatically? Was on Costco site and didn't see anything about a transfer.

I had an email on Wednesday with information about transferring my Costco files to Shutterfly. I did the steps last night and this morning logged into Shutterfly and a quick look shows my files are there.

In 2022 I started a small book at Costco and then the same book at Shutterfly. The app looked identical, so I suspect that Costco had already transferred its app to Shutterfly or adopted Shutterfly's book app in advance of this change.

I have had good results with both in the past. I just completed a book of photos from my float trip through the Grand Canyon and used Blurb. I am very satisfied with the output from blurb.

can you forward that email or the instructions or post them here please. Thanks

Thanks for the reply Baysitter11, I'm in the process right now of transferring my Costco Photo account to Shutterfly. Once completed, I plan to order a single book to see how they compare, both in cost and quality..... got my fingers crossed.

How do you transfer your stuff from Costco to Shutter? I have not received any directions or info on how to do that. I halve to do that and find the Shutterfly site to be very slow and non responsive.

Seems to me that the replacement value is what you paid for the lens.

I do the grandfather/father/son routine.
Every month or so - or when I have something of great value - I do a backup and the most recent one goes in the safe, the second most recent one in the closet and the current on is connected. And I then rotate and make an annual BU that is stored in safe.
All my photos and most important docs are on several backups scattered at different places.
All work emails and files are on work server that is backed up.
I learned the hard way - partition on hard drive crashed and I lost quite a bit.

the larger the pixels the more light gathered. therefore the less pixel dense 50 would be better than the 100 for milky way photos. May not be as good as your canon 6d which is one of the best cameras ever for astro photography

Thank you

Jay,
I moved to 50MP a few months ago. It's not that much more than my D850 offered but there is a noticeable change in the amount of time for some processing steps. Additionally, file transfers take a bit longer as well. I'm OK with both of these, as I don't feel there is a speed competition during processing.

Which of the 2 Fuji's do you think would be better at MW capture? I would think the 50 with the larger pixel size.
