Toe placement? I expect she had to place her feet and toes in whatever manner it took to maintain that lovely pose. She had to balance or possibly fall through the window. I like the shot.

Beautiful, I really like the shot....but......appears to be on a balcony and it would seem you were standing in the air out front. Where were you standing? Or how did you get the camera into its position and shoot this?

I have been asked to take pictures of a wedding rehearsal dinner at a local eatery and would like some suggestions on settings. I'll be using a Nikon D7200 with a choice of two kit lens, AF-S 1:4-5:6G, 55-200mm and/or, AF-S 18-70mm 1:3-4:5G. I don't plan to use my SB-800 flash unit and really don't want to use the pop up flash either unless absolutely necessary. My initial thoughts are:

1) Auto ISO
2) Aperture priority

or possibly

1) ISO 1000 to 1600
2) f/5.6 to f/11

It will be at night and the room will be low light and possibly with candles. I'm not sure if it will be florescent or tungsten lighting. I try to stay away from this type of photography due to some miserable results in the past. But this is for my son & his family so I really don't have a choice. Any & all suggestions are welcomed. "Pops" bacon is kind of on the line here.

Sorry but does not sound promising with what you list for equipt. If nothing else think of buying or renting or borrowing a nifty fifty. Not very expensive and will give you f 1.8, which without a flash you are likely to need. You will likely need either f 1.8 or f 2.8 to get these shots if you are not using a flash. Frankly I would consider flash unless not allowed for whatever reason. Good luck!

Beautiful Bob! BTW, I hiked the Silent trail about 25 years ago when my sun was in Boy Scouts. Beginning at Lake Chinnabee, how far along the trail is it before coming to this creek? Would love seeing it and photographing it again. Approx. when was this photo taken?

Thanks, Tom

Should you be looking at a 100-400L II or a prime lens rather than a camera?

You will get more bang for the buck with the best lenses before you worry about a body upgrade. Quality L series lenses will last a lifetime.

Paul, as always your shots are terrific! I do have one question.......what shutter speed do you feel is optimum for stopping movement of the aircraft but allowing the propeller to show that is is spinning?

Guess I need to use larger lenses more often!

Here are a couple of reviews for you:

It would appear that the 10-18 is actually the better lens based on these reviews.

BTW, I would consider leaving the 70-300 home.

I have the 10-18. Plastic but who cares? Just be careful with it. Inexpensive and the Image quality is extremely good.

"better lens on the Sony"?

Hunnnh? The wide end of this lens is a 24mm equiv field of view. Forget about interior shots of great buildings unless you like stitching. What, exactly, makes you think this is a better lens to the extent that you can just throw it out as an accepted assumption? It ain't.

Take the 24-105 and a wide angle zoom. Even the inexpensive 10-18 will serve you well.

I have both the 10-18 and the 24 prime Canon lenses previously mentioned. They will supplement your 24-105 and they weigh virtually nothing. Image quality of both is outstanding.....read the reviews.

Had a go at aircraft passing the moon last night with no luck, so tried a shot of Saturn. Not a great shot, but it is 1,380,645,646 kilometers away! Olympus EM-1 MK11 with the 300mm F4 and 1.4 extender, F8 at 1/20 sec and ISO 200.

It is indeed a long way off and not nearly so bright as many objects in the sky. I would have thought a longer exposure would have been required..........good shot though.
