Received my new Z8 August 3. Four days later I discovered that mine was part of the TSA for potential eyelet failure. Filled out form on their website same day and was placed in queue.
My initial thought was that since I never use those eyelets I didn't have any reason to send my Z8 in for fixing. But upon further reflection I realized that if the threaded pin holding the lug comes loose and falls out from vibration, then even though I don't use the lugs that pin could easily fall down inside the camera body anyways.
The thought of having a loose piece of metal lying around anywhere in the proximity of some printed circuit board gave me pause.
Received my shipping label from NY service center yesterday. Took camera to UPS this morning. Seems like Nikon is acting as quickly as possible to correct this issue.
I've had my Z8 for about two weeks and I really like it. Went to Nikon site, entered my serial number. Was informed my camera is part of the advisory for potential lug problem. Filled out their form, received packing list sheet. Was informed that I am in queue, and when I work my way up the list I will receive a shipping label. From what I've heard that could take up to 25 days. I will be sending mine to NY service center, so not sure how backed up they are.
I never use a strap attached to the lugs, so I'm not worried. But I'll send it in to have it checked/repaired anyway.
When I bought mine B&H had Z8 on backorder, so I found one on Amazon. Never bought a camera from Amazon before, but the same issue could have come up no matter where I bought it.
Thanks to each of you for the explanations. They are very helpful. As I began to dig into this a little more deeply I came across the following website, which clarifies and muddies at the same time. https://shuttermuse.com/angle-of-view-vs-field-of-view-fov-aov/
I guess I have more digging to do. One thing is certain: photography and cameras aren't boring :-)
If I mount a DX lens on a Full Frame body (Nikon Z7ii with FTZ adapter) does the angle of view of the lens change from what it was on an APS-C body, or is the angle of view only dependent on the lens, regardless of the sensor?

After reading the article I know that if I was purchasing a MacBook Pro it would have the 1 gb ssd to avoid the design issues.
That's a pretty tiny ssd.

Sorry that this is off topic, but...
How do you boot directly into Recovery Partition with Ventura? And then which disk do you erase?

You should probably back up your data and wipe the M1 clean. Reinstall MacOS (now Ventura 13.2), then reinstall all of your applications from original, up-to-date sources. Finally, reimport your data.
Just curious...what method do you use to wipe the M1 clean and reinstall MacOS? Thanks.

The EOS R5 has changed how we think about mirrorless, how we think about photography, how we think about life.
Can’t quite decide whether your degree is in philosophy or B.S…but your posts are certainly entertaining 😊

Meanwhile, installation of Affinity 2 was a breeze on my Mac. Just sayin'
And all three Affinity apps load faster than their version one counterparts, on my MacBook Pro, M1 Max. The iOS apps worked flawlessly as well.

Please, this has been debated 1001 times in UHH. It was settled long ago in 1804, by Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr two famous photographers.
They didn't shoot RAW. They were both clothed.
Interesting video. Makes me feel better about the $$$ I've spent on cameras and lenses.
OK, now I've decided - I'm selling my D850...no I'm not...yes I am...nope, now I'm not...
OK, I'm switching to Canon...no I'm not...yes I am...nope, now I'm not...
This has been the most fun thread to read in a long time.
Thanks Chg_Canon for getting the ball rolling.

Got ya...including the Canon 'brand-nerds'?
