Yes correct, the Z6 does have the capability to assign the 'AF-ON' function to more than just one button. Whilst many will use the AF-ON marked button on the rear of the camera it's also possible to set that button (AF-ON) to do nothing and set say the FN-1 button to activate AF-ON.

All accessed via f2 - Custom control assignment

Problem solved, you must assign the AF-ON button for back button focus to work in menu F2, then go to menu Autofocus a7 and choose AF On only. No where in 4 or 5 videos did they mention this. Thanks for the help.

Okay, now home with Z6.

Using the MENU button, the OK button, and the right hand side of the ring/disc around the OK button you go thru these screens highlighting the choices shown and saving choices with the OK button.

As you can see in the last photo, I don’t really care much how the AF is set up cuz I use mostly MF lenses :-)
.

still no joy.

Some help please from the Z6 users, I have watched 4 different you tube videos and still can't get my Z6 to focus with the "AF-On" button. I go to the Autofocus menu, then to a7, AF Activation, then AF-ON only, and nothing. I must be missing something. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I guess I am the strange bird here, I am a Linux user and have been for 30 years and have only ever used GIMP along with programs like Darktable, Raw Therapee and Digikam, all free and open source, and I find them all to be able and capable to do what I need to do. Any new software will require a learning curve and it just comes down to what time you are willing to invest to learn it. There are many youtube videos for learning GIMP as well as the others.

when I clean the sensor on my Olympus OMD, after removing the lens, I switch the camera on, this holds the sensor in place.

I'm waiting for the 24-105mm Z-mount lens to be released. I want to see what its maximum aperture is. The f/4 to f/6.3 maximum aperture range of the 24-200 is a little slow.

you're right it is and I considered that, but I have found that the high iso on my Z6 is really good, so I will just adjust that to compensate.

Is anyone here using the 25-200 Z mount lens on a Z6 or other Z mount and can you tell me what you think about it? I am thinking about buying one and would like to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks in advance.
