I have a Stack Shot. Works very well, manual or automatic modes. Very smooth operation as it moves between shots. Well built and intuitive.

My question is why would you put a 1500.00 lens on a 3000.00 camera? I’m a firm believer in buy the best glass you can, like the 180-400. Excellent lens with a built in converter. Just my 2 cents

I have all three camera bodies, D7200, D750, and D500. For wildlife the D500 paired with the Nikon 180 - 400 with the build in 1.4 converter can’t be beat. The D750 is a great camera for landscape and does a fine job shooting wildlife as does the D7200. The D7200 is paired with the Nikon 80 - 400 lens and works extremely well. If you want higher frames per second the D500 is a no brainer. For FF at the price the D750 will be hard to beat.

I’ve been using Sony XQD card since the D500 came out. I tried Lexar once, purchased from B&H, and they would not format. Returned and bought Sony, I have 14 of them from 32 to 64 GB, and not had any issues with them..

Caring a legal firearm into the woods to protect oneself is a perfectly fine way to feel safer. Proper training and common sense should prevail. It is a personal choice that one does not take lightly. Folks that are condescending and snarky really don’t have much to contribute to any discussion.

Will this be your only trip to Costa Rica? If so rent the best lens you can afford. You don’t want to return from your trip wishing you had a longer/ better lens.

If you have the budget the Nikon 180 - 400 with built in 1.4 T/C is the one to purchase. It is unbeatable.
Just my 2cents

Remember, with lens and everything else, you get what you pay for. High quality lens and expensive and worth the price, if one can afford them. There is no substitute for quality.

I’ve always calibrated my lenses to my cameras. Regardless of the price of the lens or body. I use a D500 with a Nikon 180-400 with the 1.4 build in TC. The calibration even though minor makes a difference in the sharpness of the focus.
All my lenses are calibrated to my D500 and D750. All are Nikon ff lenses

You should take a 600 with a 1.4 TC and for some shots that won’t be enough. Do not change lenses, take two or three bodies with different lenses attached to each.
It’s a wonderful trip and you don’t want to miss the shot

The Circle B Bar between Lakeland and Winter Haven is a marvelous spot for wildlife photography, and it’s free. Everything from Egrets, Painted Buntings to Lipmkins and alligators can be seen there. Barred owls nes there as well as Red Sholdered Hawks, Snail Kites... the list goes on.

Well said SDigger.
Art is in the eye of the beholder. Adams did his art in the darkroom, not unlike using Lightroom or any other program. The camera captures data used to express oneself in what ever form you like, be it art or photography
