Looking for info on Yongnuo lenses. I am shopping for a nifty 50mm and an extender in 1.4 or 2x for my Canon 80Dw. Does anyone have any knowledge on this company? What would anyone else buy for their first nifty 50mm and extender?
If I owned a Canon 80D, one of Canon's best crop sensor DSLRs, I certainly would not want to attach a Yongnuo 50mm lens on it. Especially, since I can get a Canon Brand 50mm crop lens at a reasonable price. However, there have been some good comments regarding this lens. Even on this forum. It's a budget lens, just as their Flash Units, which are good. I own one of them. Teleconverters or Extenders, are generally expensive in the Brand Name of your camera. If you are looking for a good budget Aftermarket teleconverter/extender, I suggest you look into the Kenko Brand. The last I priced one, was last year, at the price of about $150. You're not wanting this for a 50mm lens. Are you? I suggest the 1.4X teleconverter over the 2.0X.
I haven't tried one and I did a little looking around I saw that the quality to price ratio isn't great. Yes it's very affordable but considering the canon fifty is also affordable and better by a mile.. Well my friend has a yongnuo 50 and that inspired me to buy the canon 50mm 1.8, an upgrade to my manual focus 50's. It has the worst lens flare I've seen from a modern lens and that includes older canon eos lenses I've tried. I get less flare from a variety old vintage lenses. My first 50 1.8 usm ef kit lens, an older version, lasted 1 day when it wouldn't focus when any other lens would and the focus throw (turn) is too short to be used manually (which I think is different on the new version I have). I think side by side images will reveal better looking images from canon lenses

If you are able to get on UHH website, I'm sure you have access to Google. Your question is not clear. Which Yongnuo lens are you considering? Google it. Nifty 50? Yes, they got em everywhere for about $100, maybe a little more. There are a couple different designs by Canon now. Extender? What for? Certainly not for a nifty 50!!! Extenders, also known in the Canon world as Teleconverter, are for long prime lenses and a few fast zoom lenses. They aren't designed for 50mm lenses, or 100mm lenses or 18-55mm lenses, or 55-200mm lenses or 18-200mm lenses, or 18-135mm lenses etc.

I have three Yongnuo lenses and I am satisfied with each one; they are:
(1) 50mm f/1.8 for $32 + $5.95 w/hood ( I gave it to my daughter as I already had a canon nifty-fifty lens)
(2) 35mm f/2 prime for $80 reduced to $32 wide angle lens -AF & MF
(3) 100mm f/2 prime $170 came out in 2015 (has 8 blades giving astrial effect).
I saved a lot of money and now have some nice Canon clones made in China. Competition is very good! Of course, I had to do a lot of shopping but I loved hunting for bargains - don't know if these prices will hold. Good luck in your quest.

I had one (for about half an hour) I thought, mmmhh fifty bucks, well at that price why not, then after checking it out for about 30 minutes, it went straight into the trash can!

You should have returned it for your 50 bucks. Even, if it was junk.

Is it a Canon Brand. And, do you remember what you paid for it?
I've had a Yongnuo 50 1.8 on my Nikon for over a year.
Flawless and $65. I can't complain.
The Nikon version $229.

Yonguno, Samyang and Rokinon are all made in the same factory in Korea. Every one that I've had is manual focus and aperture. On a Nikon D810, I had to keep the lens wide open at infinity or I saw an error message in the LCD.
Lensrentals rents them, try one out to see.
Thanks for all the reply’s. We all see these sweet deals out there in cyber land. Once I saw the price on one of the fore mentioned lenses I had to ask. My budget is so tight I can not afford a mistake, even a $50 or less one unfortunately. So, decision made I will be saving my money for a Canon “nifty 50”. Why out a cheap lens on a Canon 80Dw makes perfect sense. Again thanks. If anyone has a used one for sale hit me up.

Check eBay. They have lots of used lenses for sale. Or call KEH. Good luck.

For just about $100.00 more you can get a Nikon 50 1.8 refurbished with an additional 10% off. Just sayin. I would prefer the Nikon over the Yongnuo.
