Please keep it up, I love the humor and the creativity. I have a photo of my cat Casey looking up at my cat Whitey, sitting on the deck railing, deciding if she would jump her and in front of Casey was a bag of potting soil and it looked like she was reading the bag. I tiltled it "Hmm, let see..." it was funny. Keep it up and we will continue to laugh and enjoy the joke.
that is funny and the same holds for your little ones, be careful what you say around them. If any of you ever watched Art Linkletter's show: Kids say the Darndest things, you would know what I am talking about.
Wonderful composition and colors. You had the right idea and this could be a great tutorial how to take and make good compositions. This gets 10 stars
This was a Christmas card I made a few years ago of my cat Casey. All I did was draw her hat and her Christmas costume. It took no time at all and everybody loved it.
These are called Shaggy Maines. They are edible and I have found recipes online on how to cook them. They used to grow in our yard many years ago but now they do not. When they get old, they turn into an inky black mass. They look really good. If you look at the bottom, they are starting to become inky.
For a time I posted my avatar a photo of my cat Casey. I got called out by someone who asked why don't I post my own photo of me? I did, but I am of the position that you can post whatever you want. And if someone does not like it, bully for them, they can ignore to their hearts content. Personally, I would not care less. It is the photos that I present on the forum that matter. Although, I like the dapper you.
I like them both, but number 2 really gets my vote.
I think your niece's faith in you was justified. You really did her justice and nice m emories.
One of my favorite places to go is Mt. Ranier. There are two places to go to: Paradise and Sunrise areas. They both have beautiful views and a lot of activities to do. this photo was taken at Reflection Lake with Mt. Ranier in the background.
I laughed so hard. It was funny.
I would not beat yourself about your mistakes. I have been a serious photographer since 1978 when I got my first SLR camera in 1978. But in 2006 I bought a used Olympus 3.2 MP point and shoot. I have never used a digital camera till then. It had a sensor to die for and it took great photo colors. I used it to take thousands of photos and had a lot of great ones and well, quite a few of not to great ones. In the early days of my getting that camera I kept all of the photos and ended up wondering why I was running out of space as I would store my photos on CD disks. Now I edit a lot and only keep the best. What I learned though from that little camera is that it is not the camera that takes the photos it is the person who uses what it can do. If you told me as a kid I would be taking bee and slug photos, I would have told you, you were nuts. I learned a lot about macro from that little camera and had a lot of enjoyment from it, until it gave up the ghost.

Welcome! Many contentious threads have been posted here on the merits (and demerits, lol) of "sooc" (straight out of camera) vs. post-processing. There are also numerous spirited threads on the definition of art, as well as how much pp is "too" much. Hint: no consensus has been reached

I remember the thread that talked about art and what is an ordinary photo. And the truth be told, there was no consensus but a lot of opinions. I am sure there will be a lot more. My take on photography: I am a purist which means the photo is pure me whether I post process or not. I took the photos. Is it art, well I will not answer that, you make the call as you see it. It is what interests me that counts. Can I improve? Yes I can and try to do just that. I try to be eclectic in subject matter and that is what I like to do. Art and just plain snaps are subjective and to each his or her own. My style now came out of experimentation, frustration and success.
