While riding my bicycle through a local cemetery, I came across an entire section with mostly Asian grave markers and monuments. They seemed to be worthy of a trip back there with my camera. I am struck by the ornate beauty of the gravesites.

... And, I would also like to share a "secret site" I learned about several years ago where you can find "used" and less expensive copies of MANY thousands of books, listed for sale . The prices also include the SHIPPING charges that will apply to each copy you find. It will also tell you whether the book is available as a "hard cover;" a paperback; and/or "digital" copy. Books can be searched by Title; or, ISBN number(s). . .Or, as I did in this case, by Author.

Another site for used books: www.paperbackswap.com. Despite the name, it's a source for paperbacks, hard cover, audio books on cassette and CD, large print books. They also have companion sites for CD and DVD swapping. You can offer up books, CDs and DVDs on the respective sites, and if anyone claims an item, you get a credit which can be used on any of the sites. I've sent out dozens of CDs and used the credits to get books.

Thanks Sky.

I think one of the best pieces of advice about photography I ever received was to make the best of the opportunity you're given. I try to apply it to any situation.

Clouds? Shoot anyway and see what you get. While they're the bane of an astronomer's and astrophotographer's existance, take the pic anyway. You and other's might be pleased with the results.

At my normal bedtime, around the time that the eclipse was beginning, the sky was totally clouded over. After checking weather.com for the maps, I went to bed satisfied that I wasn't gonna miss anything. However, around 12:30am my wife woke me up to say that the moon was visible and red.

Got these shots when the clouds thinned out. SOOC.

Canon Rebel T6 on tripod with 70-300 telephoto at 300mm.

The first is a little after totality. Exposure: f/5.6, 4 seconds, ISO 1600

The second is when the earth's shadow covered a bit less than half of the moon's disk. Exposure: f/5.6, 2 seconds, ISO 800.

Just started using it and I use the Drop Box folder that it put in my Windows File Manager, drag and drop folders of my photos that I want to send to somebody, then select "Copy link" for that folder and email them the link. As far as I can tell these photos don’t go through Drop Box until my recipient accesses the link. They stay on my PC until then. Is that the right way to look at it? Your comments would be appreciated.

No. When you copy files to your local (on YOUR hard drive) DropBox folder, they get synced to the cloud. This happens as soon as you make any changes to your local DropBox folder (add, delete or modify files) as long as you are connected to the internet.

Sending a link will allow anyone with that link to fetch the files from the cloud. If you are syncing a large bunch of files, you should allow time for the files to be copied to the cloud. If you are connected to the internet with WiFi, it takes roughly 10-20 times longer than if you are connected with an ethernet cable.

If you put your mouse pointer on the little DropBox icon in the system tray (the area on the extreme right end of the task bar near the time/date) it will tell you whether files are still syncing or whether the cloud is up to date with your local DropBox folder.

It was a nice idea while it lasted. But Canon Tech Support gave a big ho-hum when I informed them of my discovery and my suggestion that they update their people NOT to pontificate about something being impossible when it quite obviously was possible. Ah, but who knows? Perhaps behind the scene he is being whipped with a wet noodle. But seriously, merging selected photos onto an SD devoted to use as input to a slide projector is simply too good an idea, and too simple a process, to dismiss out of hand.

I changed to Google Chrome now about 10 years ago so I could use a free extension EXIF Viewer Pro. If you use a different browser, you'll have to see if similar software exists for your preferred browser. Also, you likely have some digital editing software that would let you download the attachment and view the included EXIF.

Extensions for Chrome (found in the Chrome Store) will work on ANY Chomium-based browser, such as Edge, Opera, Vivaldi and others.

You can also find extensions for your browser by looking in the settings under Extensions there will usually be a link to add extensions. There you can search for "EXIF" and add to the browser to show you the info.

There is a utility built into Windows called STEPS RECORDER. Perfect for recording a tutorial. I think it's been in Windows at least since Windows 7.

Creative Cloud Express is a rename for what was called Spark. It enables users to make rich multimedia content including social media posts and stories, invitations, and marketing materials like logos, flyers and banners. In other words, it is a more like a graphic design solution than a photo processing application.

Thanks Bill.

And then there is Adobe Creative Cloud Express. Anyone have any experience with this? How does it compare with the downloadable app?

Another website for sending large amounts of data (photos or any other kind) is www.WeTransfer.com. You can send up to 2Gb in one transfer, it's free and there is no limit to how many 2Gb transfers you do.

It shouldn't matter. The main difference is the amount of space you have. I have used both myself, if the photos are 720 MB or less.
I put them on a CD. You can put up to, I believe, 4.3 GB on a standard DVD.

A standard CD-R will hold 700Mb of data. A standard DVD-R will hold 4.35Gb of data, and a double-layer DVD-R will hold 8.5Gb of data.

I had the first of two cataract surgeries yesterday and now notice that in the “new“ eye, colors seem brighter—not surprising—but also much cooler than in the other eye. The difference in color temp seems to be about 4000K or more between the two, obviously because the yellowish lens is now gone. Now I wonder if color photos I’ve processed recently look overcooked or color-shifted. Anyone else have similar experiences?

When I had the first eye done, I noticed that blue bottles on my neighbor's window sill were strikingly blue. If I closed the eye that was recently corrected, the bottles looked green.
