I'm reading a recently-published book I'd like to recommend. It's called Creative Garden Photography by Harold Davis. Davis starts out with an interesting discussion on the history of gardens and types of gardens, but the majority of the book is devoted to light-table flower photos, black-background flower portraits, high-key HDR, and other advanced techniques. 360 pages, $30.70 from Amazon.
If I may add. . .I am a "book collector" [I have never sought to sell my books; I ONLY buy them so I will be assumed to be "smart!" <smile>]. I just checked Mr Davis offerings; and, it appears he has written a number of books on photography (not only on "garden" photography). . .And, I would also like to share a "secret site" I learned about several years ago where you can find "used" and less expensive copies of MANY thousands of books, listed for sale . The prices also include the SHIPPING charges that will apply to each copy you find. It will also tell you whether the book is available as a "hard cover;" a paperback; and/or "digital" copy. Books can be searched by Title; or, ISBN number(s). . .Or, as I did in this case, by Author. I have been using this site for over 25 years; and, saved a bundle!
www.gettextbooks.com. . .Don't be put off by its "name." You can look up ANY book; not just "textbooks." Happy Hunting (and, Shooting)!
Tried the sample. Looks very good.
Thanks

I had Harold Davis do a presentation for us at our local photography club a couple of years ago before Covid. He came with his two sons who were selling his books in the back of the room. He’s a marketing machine! His books are very good.
His landscape presentation to us was excellent, including tips/demo on doing panoramas.
Only caveat would be you might want to avoid taking one of his in field workshops, which he does several times a year. One of our club members did. Harold ran a 5 day landscape workshop (can’t remember where they went) and he was very disappointed. He said Harold slept in each morning. Participants were left on their own in the mornings, where on other landscape workshops he attended they were woken up at 3-4am to catch the sunrise with the instructor.
I realize that this is off topic. Just passing on because if someone buys his book, likes it and starts looking at his site and sees his workshops that he conducts and wants to sign up for one, you may want to know that he sleeps in. Wow, how’s that for a run on sentence!
Thanks for the honest comment. I too like Harold’s books and have learned a lot about flower photography from them. I was very excited to have the opportunity to learn from himself in person at the out of Chicago at the Chicago botanic garden conference. Boy was I disappointed! He met us at a location in the garden, told us about the garden and then told us to go photograph. I never saw him again. He sat in the garden until the session was over. I learned nothing from him. I felt like he was phoning it in based on his reputation. I experienced that in two sessions and then found other sessions to attend that were more informative, interactive with the instructor, and more enriching.
Someone should pass these comments on to him.

The photography club member I mentioned did pass his comments on to him. He’s not shy.
I did put it in my comments at the close of the conference.
BooYah! I’m proud to hear that you stood up to him.

Another site for used books:
www.paperbackswap.com. Despite the name, it's a source for paperbacks, hard cover, audio books on cassette and CD, large print books. They also have companion sites for CD and DVD swapping. You can offer up books, CDs and DVDs on the respective sites, and if anyone claims an item, you get a credit which can be used on any of the sites. I've sent out dozens of CDs and used the credits to get books.

Thank you for that. I checked out two authors and a very good listing was produced. Used prices are good too. The authors were Chris Argyris (organizational learning) and Karl Weick (Sensemaking in Organisations). I have both books however the listing of other books by each author was extensive. I believe this to be a very useful site. I am interested in the Social Psychology of Risk (SPoR) and some of the research is quite in depth and dated so this site will be very useful for me. Now for a look at some tomes on phottography.
Another excellent source for books that I have used for decades is Hamilton Books. Merely google the same and go to the subject area that interests you and you will find deep discounts on remaindered new books at a deep discount. I just checked and there are presently over 400 different titles listed under photography and nearly 1,200 cookbooks for another example. I haven't purchased anything recently, but the shipping was $5.98 whether you bought one book for a dollar or a thousand books. The company also has a no question return policy.
