I don't know if you tried any of the fancy sharpening filters out there. Topaz Sharpen AI being one of them.

I have Topaz Photo AI and love it---I use it most for hi ISO astro images---or wildlife shots at higher ISO's. It's good for sharpening as well as NR, of course

Interest is back-dated. He owes some $450m. The number will only get larger as tRumpty appeals....

Swimming in Hell's Canyon? With a name like that, he should have stayed away.

"he" ?? You mean me, eh?! LOL... I was actually downstream of Hell's Canyon a few miles, on a reservoir (Snake River, border of Idaho and Oregon) shooting Milky Way timelapses with two cameras. Each was on a rock, next to the water.. 15' apart. Went to move the R5/Rokinon 24 f/1.4 up for panorama shots, lost balance with only a red headlamp lit... Didn't feel my leg contact the tripod, but sure as shootin' heard the splash. How I got the rig is a long story..but it did help to have them and loss estimates for the insurance claim.... sigh....

I cannot comment directly on the 18-270. But I have 4 other Tamrons all the G2 version and am delighted with each one.
I

My other Tammy's are the 24-70 and 150-600, both G2's. Excellent lenses. EF mount.

My first were back in the 1970's or so.... Adaptall 300 f/2.8 and 80-200 f/2.8 used on my FD Canon T90 ... still have the zoom... haven't used it since the early 1980's when I switched to EOS... it developed a bad fungus had it cleaned, it came back.... keeping it as a memento, not worth trying to sell...

I have the latest model, the 18-400 (Canon EF) I'm happy with it, though I rarely use it as I have a full complement of faster, more normal (as in 3-1 zoom ratio) lenses. Bought it for the times when I want to go light. Turns out that's not very often.

I checked online with Nikon and they can't give me an estimate unless I send it to them directly. My feeling is that for a camera that may be worth $400, I'll be throwing good money at bad. But I appreciate your input. It'll probably be research time for a new or used camera.

I agree. My local camera guy, would likely agree. Sadly, his website now states he's retired. Just last summer, he moved to near you. He did a free estimate on my R5 and lens that went swimming in Hell's Canyon some time ago. Needed the info for my insurance claim.

True, but they don't filter the exhaust fumes from the car in front of you, if you're using outdoor air.

How so? Filters' job is...wait for it... filtering.

Besides, most car and truck exhaust is quite clean, these days...

I like cuddling up next to my wife, under a blanket and reading a lengthy prose about how to tighten a garden hose. It is also nice to have a fire burning. Since I don’t have a fireplace, I use matches!

What did the fire marshall/insurance investigator have to say........

Plus you're not bringing all the extra dust and fumes into the car.

Perhaps. But, modern cars have cabin air filters.

Thanks for the heads up Paul. I ordered about an hour before this was posted. I am going to try to cancel order with MPB but it is after hours for them in NYC so I will have to talk to them tomorrow morning. Fortunately I got the one I bought for $244. So not too much difference plus a 180 day warrantee. You win some and loose some 😎

Folks should always check fredmiranda. Nothing but reputable sellers there!

I'm researching and debating with myself whether to buy an astro modified R5 to go with my stock one. Seller wants $2600.. it has almost $800 in the mod and filters.

can I keep this setting on all the time, even with my RF auto lenses, or should I set it back to off after using the fisheye? Leave it on

What affect, if any would it have on auto RF lenses if it is left on? None

Would this setting hurt the lenses in any way?
Nope

Peak Design. I really like their anchors. The anchors easily click into the strap and they are easy to remove with a little pressure at the anchor.

I have both sizes, the Slide and Slide Lite. Convenient. Nothing sharp to scratch camera body.
