Love my D-500and appreciate Steve Perry's input
Programs are Capture NXD and View NX-1.Easy to download, but difficult to make work. Has a series of steps to make program work. Had to go to Nikon Tech support to be walked thru steps that the tech had to first learn how to do them.
I totally love my D-500 and have already paid for it's cost with an assignment that required a lot of flat art shoothing. I have tested it with my Sigma 150-600 in some bird shooting and some sport shots. It lives up to the hype. The only problem is the new software required to download. Takes a college degree to understand it.
Was there for over a month. First two weeks with a photo group and then rented a 4 wheel drive vehicle and spent two weeks driving the ring road around the island. Increadable variety of photography and lots of great places if you take side roads along the whay.
It is a great lens and well worth the cost
Contact nikonusa.com and go to tech support. Suggest phoning them. The D500 is not supported by software you have and they will e-mail you the new software
I am not a Cannon shooter, but Nikon. Thus do not know all the settings you have available.I have shot NFL, College football, PGA & LPGA golf and shoot for USOC. I always use a higher ISO, high speed crds, continuous focus and back button focus. Usually shoot high jpeg, but even with raw I have no problems with speed.
I have the Sigma 150-500 sport. Love it so much I gave away my Nikon 200-400 for $1500
Just ordered mine yesterday, with battery grip. Can't wait to put it to use.
I will never go back to aluminum. Love carbon fiber. It is lighter, stronger and far easier to travel with, which I do a lot.
Patience, a good long lens, knowing the subject behaviour, a tripod or monopod, luck and if you have it on your camera -back button focus.
The Famosa Slew in Point Loma has several locations for shooting with close by parking
Stock photography is dead
Have been there several times. A guide is required, even if you take your own vehicle and it had better be high clearance and 4 wheel drive. Even then you can get stuck as I did once. There are several special vehicles that take people in, but if you can arrange for a private vehicle and guide it would be better. Gives you more freedom to shoot and there is a lot to shoot. Not only the beautiful canyon geology and old ruins, but lots of wildlife if you get to the back reaches of the canyons. Be careful in the monsoon season as the canyon can flood from rains miles away. A truly beautiful place
