Feels more natural to hold. Controls well placed. The super sharp touch screen is quite nice,it's just like manipulating most touch screens to a certain extent. Also, being able to light up the control buttons is useful in dim light. A plus for my wife is the articulating screen. The screen shutter is neat for use when using live view mode. The viewfinder diopter control adjustment is easy to set. Having shot nothing but cropped sensor, the ISO is beyond my comprehension, but I haven't done much yet. General shooting over 20,000 is quite realistic, but again, need viable comps. No doubt that I will have much more latitude shooting wildlife/birds with much faster shutter speeds or in lower light.
By general shooting I was referencing non-portraiture type subjects. Just shots in dim lighting to attempt visualization of high ISO pics.
Note: Saves in Jpeg,NEF,Tiff.
No big revelations until I've done some comprehensive shooting that makes sense. Appears to be what I wanted basically for my wildlife shooting.
You must have gotten an advance D-500. B&H still has them listed as pre-order. I think I'll wait a while before I invest in one.

I was close to the top of the list I guess!
The cameras are being shipped in the sequence in which they were ordered. Right now, I assume, companies are filling orders as they receive stock,so until existing orders are filled and they have stock on the shelf, orders placed now are going on the list to receive them as merchandise come in.

They have (or did when I last checked) a few in the local brick and mortar that I shop at. Too rich for my wallet at this point. This was the replacement that I wanted for my D300, which I filled with a D7100.

Anxious to see some samples when you're ready.

Brick and mortar apparently had no commitments by way "pre-orders",so when they received their allotment they just put them on the shelf for sale. I wouldn't be one waiting at the door at 3am for a chance to buy one!

I somehow doubt that it will take too long to fill the shelves!
Unless I misread something, pre-orders for the MB-D17 battery packs are around $40 cheaper at Amazon than at B&H or Adorama.

My wife is not at all interested. She has her D3100 and 18/140,end of story,or so she has stated for the past couple years.
However, she's really liking the screen and the ability to use live view in both high and low shots. If she plays her cards right, I don't want her to think that I'm easy after 45 years, I'll let her use it and get a D750 or D810!  She's doing more and going to try using our 70-200. Dave.

If you read it right, I'm sure both will match. I got the Nikon one for my D7000 and used it for a couple months and put it back in the box. I enjoyed it,but found it cumbersome in the long run. One of these days I'll sell it,the camera and a couple lenses. I just hate to part with anything...

That's a nice feature I didn't know about. Great idea. I like the tilting screen on my D750.
What does the touch screen control?
