The D610 is at the bottom of Nikon’s FX cameras.

that hardly qualifies it as an entry level camera along the lines of the d3200 or whatever it was. I think you're talking through your hat. By the way, I do not shoot with a D610 in case you're thinking I'm just defending my own stuff.

There’s little comparison between the two. The D610 is an entry level camera, the Df is built for professional use like the F series film cameras.

Who are you to declare the 610 an “entry level” camera. Please support your assertion.

I disagree that the 610 is “entry level”. It’s an excellent camera technologically superior to the DF. The DF is cool looking, but I’d go for the 610 features and save myself 800 smackeroos.

I have had mine for several years without any problems. My mistake was the 24-300 zoom I bought with it. Very soft.

I bought my Tokina for real estate photography, which I don't do anymore. I never like the curved distortion on the sides of the frame. I know these can be fixed in Photoshop, but Photoshop confuses me and I can never seem to get the correct results. So it sits in the bottom of my walk-around bag just to give me a little more exercise.

A firm decision to do or not to do something.

Will you learn to better use your current equipment?

Will you learn your processing software?

Will you organize your legacy images?

Will you organize your new images?

Will you sell your unused and outdated equipment?

Will you ask for help?

Will you answer a request for help?

Will you use selective focus with an off-center AF point placed specifically on the subject?

Will you investigate higher ISOs?

Will you use your flash?

Will you use your tripod?

Will you try Back Button Focus?

Will you create an image over the next 366 days that achieves your resolution?
What is a resolution? br i A firm decision to do ... (show quote)

Except for family snapshots, I'm going to try to shoot only black and white all year.

Interesting subject Jim. I do my best work while alone, solitary. I think these two fit this challenge. The first one I have shared before. It is my favorite spot on Assateague Island - my solitary tree. It was torn down earlier this summer by tourists that have not respect for the island and what it means to the locals.

I think it’s a damn shame that some people feel the need to tear things like this down. I despise vandalism. I live in a quiet little beach community and a few assholes decided it would be amusing to use an as yet undetermined explosive to blow up a Port-a-John. Why? Is that a thrill? Wait until they see how thrilling it is to spend a few months in Rhode Island’s Adult Correctional Facility (read “prison”).

A filter wrench is your best bet. They’re cheap, only a few dollars. B&H or Adorama.

How could one possibly be offended by such beautiful images? Whether shot with a Nikon or a Canon makes no difference. I’m an old fart Nikon guy but shot with a Canon F1 in my football photography days. Canon was my client and I was the odd duck on the sidelines of Super Bowl XIV with a Canon outfit. That was the first year of Canon being “Photo Consultant to the NFL” and “Official Camera it the Super Bowl”. That strategy, that I put together with Canon and my employer, NFL Properties, was the beginning of it all. Ah, memories. I still have an “Officially Accredited Photographer of Super Bowl” plaque banging around in my workbench someplace.

Join the Mac community. You’ll never regret it and you’ll never go back. Besides, I own Apple stock, so I’m always pushing.
