Hi all,
an interesting video for you here.

How the viewer interacts with your photograph can be effected by your choice of lens. Let the video explain.

Feel free to link in other interesting video links, this subject is maybe a tad off topic but in an interesting way. looking at how we can communicate visually may lead to interesting locations.

Your current computer is lacking in RAM. You should have a minimum of 16GB for what you're trying to do. Also, no mention of the HD, but on an inexpensive notebook, it's probably slow. IMO you can get a LOT more bang for your buck with Windows than Mac. Power desktops are much less expensive than power notebooks. Look for posts from Gene51; he's posted a lot of very good data on computers for post processing in this forum. Good luck!

Good info - thanks -

ps: you can make another entry with the links and it generally won't be moved - you can also post in Links and Resources which is where this would fit very nicely...

Good tip. Here's the link for the playlist.

A lot of folks have asked for recommendations in this area. I apologize in advance if someone has already recommended this site.

I don't believe I can include a link in this post, so here's how you find it.

go to YouTube.com and search for PixImperfect. They have over a million subscribers, so there is definitely a high level of popularity.

Look for the playlists link and click it. The playlist is "Lightroom Tutorials for Beginners"

The 14 videos are short, very clearly explained and easy to understand. The host is enthusiastic and engaging. It's all totally free.

I hope this helps.

Nice. Videographers with FF Sony bodies will drool over this.

Micro 4/3 users have four f/0.95 Voigtlander primes: 10.5mm, 17.5mm, 25mm, and 42.5mm

Awesome! I had no idea these were available. I know it's manual focus and aperture setting. I have a question you might be able to answer. Other than not being able to auto focus or control the aperture from the camera what else do you lose? E.g. focus assist, etc.

A very good friend of mine who shoots 8x10 uses one. I also have one, but generally use my Gitzo. The Gitzo is an older one. So, it's fairly substantial.

Got it. Heavy; mine probably weighs 15 - 20 pounds.

That sums up more of what photography should be. Regardless of the medium, the philosophy is what's important. It's the art that counts.

I noticed he's using a wooden heavy tripod. Looks like my Zone VI tripod from Fred Picker that's languished in storage for decades. Are wooden tripods still in common use by large format photographers?

I'm interested; how much would it take to pry it out of your hands? :)

You can do this for about $8 each - $10 for a pair of 32" Kwiktwist ties, and another $6 for two pairs of quick clamps.

You can get them direct from the maker for less money. Price is 7.99 per pair and shipping is flat 5.00.

Bob, the app is called Expodev provided by Tiny Octopus. It's basically a program based on Phil Davis' work related to Beyond The Zone System. Once the initial data is established exposure and related processing are dead on.
