Hi all,
an interesting video for you here.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjKNZ1ydE9I Choosing the RIGHT LENS — Why Focal Length MATTERS

How the viewer interacts with your photograph can be effected by your choice of lens. Let the video explain.

Feel free to link in other interesting video links, this subject is maybe a tad off topic but in an interesting way. looking at how we can communicate visually may lead to interesting locations.

Small bonus video

Some basic photography here. Teles compress the view we see through them making objects in the background to appear closer. Wide angles have a different perspective with their tendency to expand the background while they "see" more of the foreground. We all know that wide angles appear to have more depth of field and they distort, specially near the corners of the frame.
Learning to use the lenses for impact is a different story.

Technically that is correct, but where does that place the viewer? With the telephoto that usually means watching from a distance, the 50mm puts the viewer within the group, the 35 mm puts the subject in context. Being a safe distance away does not feel the same as up close and personal even with the subject being the same size in the frame...

Wow! A lot to think about. I've watched this three times already. My brain is thinking about how to use this in still photography for impact. I'm going to present it to my photography club. Thank you.
