This also happened to young women working in the watch factories in Lancaster, PA. Home of Hamilton, Bullova, and Waltham among others.

I’ve been using Amazon & Google for a year, mainly for my iPhone images & videos. I ran out of video space quickly on Amazon. I also pay 💰 for iDrive backup also for all my images plus backup to a local 4TB external HD. Google Photos does an incredible job of searching images by faces, subject, dates, etc.

Been said by others. I switched from Carbonite to iDrive they will send you a portable hard drive to backup to. You mail it back to start your backup so you don’t need to use all of your bandwidth. I’ve been pleased so far. Plus I backed up 3 PCs.

Thank you all for the thoughtful responses. Unfortunately no sooner had I posed the question then the bargain of a camera had been sold. It was a good deal. A private sale $500 with a battery grip, (2) batteries, 32000 shutter count and a 70-300 5.6 lens. I should have just jumped on it but I didn’t. Now I know better when the next deal comes down the pike. For now I’ll make the best of my 7000 or sell off some excess studio strobes and buy a camera from a dealer with a return policy if there are issues. Thank you all!

I use my camera for all types of photography but mainly Astrophotography, Automobiles, and Portraits.

Camera question: I have a Nikon D7000 16MP DX camera. I have a chance to upgrade to a clean used Nikon D7200 24MP DX camera a few years newer. It’s the upgrade I can afford. Plus my collection of 5 Nikon lenses are all DX Lenses.

Is this a worthwhile upgrade or more a lateral move. Besides a larger pixel count and possibly lower noise it has WIFI and Near Field Communications.

Thanks, Dave

Welcome to the forum Craig. We currently live in Reading, PA but my wife is from across the river in Enhaut above Steelton.

If you ever feel you want to get more out of that iPhone, I belong to a group on Facebook called the Tiny Shutter iPhone Photography Forum. They also host a biweekly Podcast called the Tiny Shutter Podcast. They pushed Smartphone Imagery to the Max using the many Apps, accessory lenses, and especially Raw image data.

There’s also 2 smartphone Astrophotography Facebook Forums for literally out of this world images.

I look forward to checking out Your Website. We are the same age and followed similar paths.

I’m using a Tamron DX-II 11-20 2.8 lens on my Nikon D7000. Mainly for Astrophotography, but also Automotive & Real Estate. I want. UV filter to protect the front element. Must it be a Thin Mount to avoid vignetting or is that only if I’d stack another filter on it. Also are any of the more affordable filters good enough or must I spend $50 or more for a quality UV Filter. Thanks, Dave

Sweet ride. The color really brings out the curves. I’ve got a 96 SVT Cobra 🐍 I attend a lot of Mustang heavy car shows. A GT 500 hood would be the icing on the cake, a modern Elanore.

I just had my Canon G4200 give up the ghost. IT WAS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD!!! I was told I need to use it more. Does anyone have and printing I can do for them? LOL I have to figure out how I can use the new one more often.

Two ways to go. Once a week print a Windows / Mac test page. Or my Canon Pro-100 & Pro-10’s have a print head test function. It prints a pattern of every color and used little ink, but keeps the heads / lines unclogged.

Or you can do what I did to do the same. Created a text file something like:

This is a Head Color Test 😀💧❤️🌎🌴

Every letter I made a different color. Uses very little color but keeps the print flow open.

Last but not least many owners of Photo printers ones with 5 or more ink carts. Use a program called Q-Image Pro cost about $50.

It’s original use is for great color match and maximum use of paper. You can gang print multiple images on say 13”x19” paper and it figures the most efficient layout.

Also it has a utility to print a test pattern every XXX amounts of hours or days, you decide. You set once and forget it. You need to leave the PC and Printer on, but it will wake it from a Sleep. Perfect for people who don’t use their printers daily. You load up plain paper in between photo jobs and walk away. It will periodically print the test prints.

Hope this helps

I have a Canon Pro-100 & Pro-10 that I use Precision Color Inks with for over 3 years. No issues with clogging. The Pro-10 dye inks last long, though not as long as OEM inks.

The Pro-100 inks if subjected to sunlight or ozone from the refrigerator motor do fade faster than OEM. But when stored in subdued light or framed behind glass seem to hold up well. I’d stay away from the least expensive, no name inks.

Come to think of it I did use 3rd party inks in my Mother in laws Kodak AIO printer and the results were poor. Dull colors, ran out faster than OEM and had to replace the heads 2x which luckily are cheap.

I think it qualifies you as a man. And a photographer still learning. Because the legs would look better with just the light background, not the cabinet.

If that’s your Spouse or significant other than that qualifies you as Proud with good taste. IMHO.

There’s a solution I found to the small circle. I use my iPhone to digiscope for Astrophotography. Handholding it is very frustrated. I bought an adapter the Celestron NexYZ. Then use the App Camera Plus Version 2. There’s an Android equivalent. Use a Bluetooth shutter release about $5-6 on Amazon or eBay.

The App has a Macro Mode that brings the image from the eyepiece in tight and crystal clear in my experience.

I have an iPhone 8+ and a Windows 10 PC also a Windows 10 Laptop. When trying to download multiple images from my iPhone via the Lightning to USB cable I often have problems. Doesn’t matter which cable I use. Or if I use USB 2.0 or 3 there are often issues with disconnects partway thru the download. I’m not alone, this is a common issue on the Apple support forums.

I do have automatic backup to Google & Amazon Photos. But I want to back up the folders on my IOS phone to an internal or external drive so I know I have the full sized image. Then I can make room on my phone.

So I’ll give the original poster’s App a try or Bluetooth. I haven’t tried that yet.

I’m glad you found them. I use my local HD, an External HD, I back all important images to DVD. In addition to that I Pay for iDrive Cloud back up, free automatic backup to Google Photos & as an Amazon Prime Member my images are backed up to their Cloud service also. Knock on wood I have CD’s of my files from 20 years backed are that are totally recoverable. And something as important as your Son’s becoming a Marine should be printed in a book or album.

Incredible railroad images. Really bring out the feeling of steam in that area. The last image is epic. They’re all cinematic in their depth of color and composition.

I’ll share these with my Grandson. He’s 4 1/2 and eats, drinks, & sleeps trains 🚂
