That is way cool. Really good photographs. Not ones the typical passengers would get to take.
I've done that trip twice to date. Once with the diesel locomotive and the last one, Mar. of 2020, with the steam locomotive, booked specifically for that reason. I did find out they use a diesel with it, as there are a few places along the route that the grade is just a bit much for the steam locomotive we had that day.
It's definitely a fun time and I'm looking forward to doing the trip again in the future.

Pre dawn to post sunset. We used two different loco's, day two with a double header. The loco's are oil fired using used cooking oil and smell like McDonald's!
