The last search on this topic was started in Jan of this year. Any relevant updates, especially on the possible surreptitious use of photos by Amazon? I don't really trust Amazon-type companies, but maybe I'm just being paranoid.

My only questions were whether any compression is happening to affect image quality, and can you store raw files, and do they compress your raw files? I had seen a rumor about compression.

Be worth a try. But even full resolution jpegs are still full resolution after compression. So their claim could be true even if they do compress.

Great service, never had an issue, can fully automate or simply select. If you exceed the free video storage the cost for additional space is competitive.

Stores raw and jpegs without limit. The free limit for video is 5gb. No compression, no issues. Been using for two years now.

I keep getting emails about the price of the WD Passport 2TB external drive dropping. It's down to $58.00 on Amazon.

It's not so much unlimited space as an unlimited number of photos, but not at high resolution. If you upload very large files, the number is limited. I post mine on Google Photos for a couple of groups to see. Pics I take with my cell phone wind up on Amazon automatically.

Now I must admit that I might be getting Amazon and Google mixed up. They both allow unlimited uploading, but the size of the images is limited in at least one of those apps.

I use amazon as an off site backup. I upload Raw files and the associated xmp files. I currently have 516,288 photos using 8tb of space. I am paying for 1tb of space ($59) for video files. When traveling, I often do a nightly backup of my photos (using hotel wifi )to a working directory I created as an extra precaution against loss. I'm very happy with the service

Google Photos will compress large files. Amazon Photos does not.

IF you select that option. If you allow Google Photos to compress, the number of stored photos is unlimited. If you opt for full rez uploads, then the limits of your Goggle Drive account apply.

I’ve been using Amazon & Google for a year, mainly for my iPhone images & videos. I ran out of video space quickly on Amazon. I also pay 💰 for iDrive backup also for all my images plus backup to a local 4TB external HD. Google Photos does an incredible job of searching images by faces, subject, dates, etc.
