Great. Best of luck on this very interesting venture.

I highly recommend the Robus RC-5570 tripod. Great quality for the price. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1383159-REG/robus_rc_5570_c_5570_tripod.html

I use the 200-500 on my D500 and love it. You may have to wait a while as they are back ordered right now. They are popular and for good reason. It is rated for much more weight than the Dutch Hill you mention, also.

I use a Katana Jr. gimbal head and love it. I'm sure you'd be happier with a gimbal than a ball head for that lens.

I've been shooting BBF for years. Be sure to set your camera on AI SERVO when using BBF. That will allow the camera to be looking for a focus point all the time until your press the shutter button. AI FOCUS doesn't work as well with BBF because as soon as you press your focus button, the camera locks on, even though your subject may have moved.

AI SERVO is Continuous/AF-C for Nikon users, BTW.

BBF - I'll never go back. Thank you, Steve Perry.

Call Adobe. You will be on hold for around 15-30 minutes. The advisor will take control of your computer and trace the source of the problem. They are very helpful.

Thank you.

I just make toast under the broiler, so I've never had a toaster. But I trust the Cooks Illustrated/America's Test Kitchen, so I looked up their toaster tests. They tested the latest thing in toasters - the long slot toaster. You can toast two slices in the long slot. They recommended two for less than $100. First was the Breville The Bit More Toaster at $80, which has two slots so can toast 4 slices. The other is the Dash Clear View Toaster, at $36, but only one slot. It has a clear window so you can see the toasting progress. Both are available on Amazon.

I checked on this review also. The Dash Clear View has the added advantage of periodically throwing the toast on the counter or the floor. That could be entertaining.

How few dollars is "cheap"? How many dollars is "no longer cheap"? How many dollars is "just too damned expensive"?

Is a $150.00 tripod rated for 12 lbs. not any good, while a 2-3 times more tripod rated for 12 lbs. is "necessary?

Where does it all end?

Good questions. I've always needed a tripod rated for more than 12 lbs.

I had a cheap tripod break and ruin my expensive camera. There's a lot to be said for a reliable tripod and they don't come cheap.

I am trying to tether my Nikon D500 to Lightroom Classic CC (v8.2) on a PC (I subscribe to the Creative Cloud). I continue to get a "tether_nikon.exe - System Error." Is says "The code execution cannot proceed because CRClient.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

So far I have updated the firmware on the camera, uninstalled and reinstalled Lightroom and still get the same error.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Michael

I've had my 18-300 since it first came out in 2012 (I think). I bought it for my D5100, then used it on the D7100 and now on my D500. I love it. However, for birds and wildlife, I usually use the 200-500. I paid $900 for mine, the introductory price.

If you are doing wildlife/birds, you do want a sturdy tripod, preferably one without a center post. I recommend Steve Perry's wildlife book, also.

Also, check out his "My Tripods for Wildlife and Landscape Photography" video on YouTube.

That said, there is a new brand of tripod that is great at a bargain (relatively speaking) price. Check out the Robus tripods carried by B&H. I have the 5570 and it is a real winner.

Good luck to you.

Thanks, that's good to know. I'm just about certain that I'm buying the 200-500.

You'll be happy. Regardless, whatever you choose, enjoy.

I use the oringinal Tamron 150-600 on my D500 and D750. I have managed to have sharper images then using the Nikon 200 - 500 that I borrowed from a friend. The G2 version of the Tamron 150-600 is a better quality lense than the original and takes fantastic images. The other upside is with the money you save over the Nikon Lense, you can purchase another smaller lense that you might need or want!

Not likely. The price difference is only about $100. It would be difficult to find a quality lens for that price.

I own it! It is fantastic. Easily worth twice the price. It's tall, very stable, well-built, comes with more than you may need. It's a bargain. Check out the reviews that Jerry posted, they are spot on. I absolutely love it. Contact me if you want more info.
