Fibonacci is everywhere!

After editing so many books throughout my life for everyone else, I'm finally going to write my own book, although it mostly will be a nature picture book so I can combine my three loves of nature, photography, and books.

To be titled "Nature's Geometry: Flora."

The golden spiral and golden angle, derived from the golden ratio of the Fibonacci sequence of numbers, will be featured since it's noticeable in so many plants. This mammillaria in my garden exhibits the golden spiral very well. Said mammillaria is in a big container in my southwest-facing garden, which means that, at this time of year, it is getting about 8 hours a day of sunshine.

I subtitled the book "Flora" because I'm going to do a second book subtitled "Fauna." Seashells, especially the beautiful nautilus, and the bighorn sheep come immediately to mind as exhibiting the golden spiral in fauna.

If you're familiar with Fibonacci and all the goldens associated with the Fibonacci sequence of numbers, or after you become familiar, post your photos here. Don't limit yourself to just the golden spiral and golden angle. All geometrical shapes are welcome: circles, stars, pyramids, spirals, etc. No human-made things, please.

I might ask to use your photo in my books, and if your photo makes it, you'll get appropriate attribution—at the photo, in the index, and in a special photo credit index—as well as a free book, a real book printed on paper, bound like a book, feeling like a book, and smelling like a book, and a free eBook. Said free book and eBook will, of course, be one of the two Nature's Geometry books. I'm hoping that didn't need to be said, but one never knows.

How cool. I already have written a short section on Fibonacci. I might have to try to find a picture of his headstone.

I own a botany type book from Smithonian called Flora. Amazing photos with explanations of the botany behind each. Worth checking out.

https://www.amazon.com/Flora-Inside-Secret-World-Plants/dp/1465474501/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Flora&qid=1556717013&s=gateway&sr=8-3

Sounds like a cool project. Schools now are all about STEAM curriculum, science, tech, engineering, arts, and math. It would be a natural fit.

I bought it shortly after it came out last year. It is a pretty cool book.

A good friend in college, a math major, had a dog named Fibonacci. That’s it.

Beautiful work but not definitive enough for what I'm looking for. Thanks.

As an engineer, I always enjoy seeing the beautiful geometric patterns associated with nature. Your photo is an excellent selection for displaying the Fibonacci series & your book project sounds fantastic. Wishing you all the best with your endeavor.
