The Adobe Programs are way above your head- You might try Gimp- still a learning curve - You can go to U-tube for learning. I don't know about the paint program. You are "not" going to change or do much with background changes etc- that is a PhotoShop or more program and one BIG learning curve!!- You will find you cannot learn a photo program and have little time- doesn't work!!! Good Luck

O.K....I think I just answered my own problem!! My 128, CF Express card will hold over 4700 shots. My 64 SD card will hold over 2300 shots! If I purchase one more 128 SD card I will. have the capacity of close to 10,000 shots. I Must have about 8-9 64 GB SD cards. I need the CF Express or a Super Fast SD card for 4 k movies and for high speed Rapid shots. A Mac web sight - "OWC" sells a super fast SD card( V90 speed)that I can purchase that is a 128 GB high speed SD card for $120 bucks and I'm done. Have the extra SD cards if needed!! Also, just spoke with my son, and has a small 8X12" computer I can burrow. I then could watch movies on our flight- (LONG FLIGHT!). Hate to drag a computer along tho!!! Thanks to all for the insight and it helped me make a good decision!!! For $120 bucks I'm all set!

Thanks to all- I think more cards are the easiest way to go- I can get a 128 SD super fast cards for about 100 bucks or a couple of 64 Gg for like $69 each- These are a new card that is almost as fast as the CF express cards. I dislike the thought of taking along a computer to Europe-
Thanks again!!

Easiest/Best way to back up my cards on a trip. I'm expecting to shoot a lot of photos and need a way to backup my cards without a computer. WD used to make a sd backup hard drive but quit making it, however they do have a $900 dollar unit- yep-$900 BUCKS!! I have the Canon R5 which is WiFi capable and can use a hub that makes a connection using an app on my iPhone ... bunch of $%#*^% work arounds- any suggestions that make an easy way to download the card? I can take my CF reader crd reader along, but almost need computer for this.I could shoot all SD card and leave the CF Express as a card backup- The problem with this is I cannot shoot super fast high speed photos if needed. Video would have to be 1080 instead 4K. There is a new SD card out that will shoot 4K video and it is not real expensive and I could go that route- Ideas ??
Thanks!

One item I did not see- Do you routinely "SHUT DOWN" your computer? not just let it go to sleep- shutting down revives the memory to its full extent. Putting to sleep does not clean the memory out- Just a thought!

Asking for any suggestions on how to fix slow LR with my Mac. I have attached the info more my Mac. From what I understand the memory should be fine and I still have storage space. I have updated to the new LR with the new features. I am about to punt this computer as when I move sliders or try to crop I get spinning wheel! If I'm doing a mask and move the exposure slider for example I have to sit and wait to see if it did anything! Then I think it isn't doing anything so I move on and then suddenly it does what I ask after I think it didn't! This is not how to edit photos.

You will see I have the graphics processor off. I have tried both ways and it does not seem to make a difference.

I don't do XMP files, one LR tech guy turned it on and it was slower! So turned it off.

I purge the cache often as well as optimize the catalogue, like daily. This does not help.

I have been on the phone with Apple and they have looked at the Activity monitor and they said nothing unusual. LR fluctuates as it is used.. I see as high as 250.

So, I scrubbed the computer. Reinstalled everything from my Laci Time Machine and it did not help. Sometimes if I have been using the computer for a while I even get spinning wheel when going to Safari if LR is open. If LR is not open things work well on the computer. Sometimes it even takes a while to get programs to close.

Of course LR tells me it is my computer. Apple said computer is fine.

Any suggestions? I'm about to buy a new computer... of course I have everything on external hard drives as backup as well as the time machine back up.

Thanks Beth

I have found that you need to try all the ISO settings to determine which ones you can use in extreme conditions. Here is one web site that will help on how to do this: https://www.nationalparksatnight.com/blog/2017/2/19/how-to-take-an-iso-test-with-your-camera. Also remember that if you have to use a higher ISO you can use a program like Topaz DE Noise that is a super program-and works extremely well! One of the best out there at the-present. In my book, I'd rather use a higher ISO to get a photo than not get anything- Just me!! Ps. Google for more web sites if needed- that is where I got that one! above.

If the last idea doesn't work, try using the shelf liner or bottle cap rubber waffle (or plastic) shelf stuff as a gripper. Be sure to get the back of the CP lens not the front element. 2nd- leave the UV filter off- any type of glass or ?? does nothing but degrade your glass lens. Why spend the $$$ for a super lens and then put a piece of glass or wavy glass in front of it? I dealt with glass for many years and most glass is not really good unless you spend the "BIG BUCKS" for a super brand filter. If you are careful with your lenses and camera you don't need it anyway- Unless you throw your equipment around.

Do you or can you get a projector ?? I did my 8mm movies this way- project on to a foam core board about 4x6"or 5x7"size with the foam core only a few inches away. Now use your camera and take photos of each. You can try to clean up in any photo program. By keeping the foam core close the pictures will be super bright and give the best picture you can get! Like I said way back I did my 8mm movies this way with a camcorder!

One item a few people do not know: If you use a zoom lens, every time you zoom in and out on most lenses, air is drawn in and out as you zoom the lens.. Now how about a dusty or blowing area you are in??? Think about it- you are moving a lens in and out- you would make a vacuum if air did not get in.

My error but now I cannot remember where I read the review- sorry - The article did not mention anything about saving all the layers or any particular process- so as you mentioned, it would be a lot smaller file if the file was flattened in that case.

I'd think twice about an upgrade or purchase for ver 4. One main reason is a 25 MB file after working on it will be 245 MB!! This was stated in. a review in "DepReview". Lots of hard drive space needed!! Esp. on a laptop! OUCH!

Brent:. There is a way you can revert back from Big Sur- Off hand I do not know how but have read there is a way- You might go to the Apple group area(forgot the name of the group). or try U tube. I know it can be done !! Might be your easiest answer...I did not upgrade as it does affect some of Adobe's programs and scanners - Another note for future use- I never upgrade for almost a year as there seems to be "THINGS" that don't show-up right away... If it works- Don't knock it!!
