I had been playing around with my 10D and knew that most likely the sensor had gotten a bit dirty from the environment.
So I took a photo to confirm it and yep, it was pretty messed up.
So I broke out the cleaning kit and swabbed it down with some scrubbing (Not the first time, and yes, scrubbing at times is needed) and took a photo of the clear sky and it looks totally different.
Do not fear doing it yourself, quite easy and takes not even a minute.
Lens used?
EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 II, at 300mm lots of vignette in the corners but still a good lens with decent detail for an old and inexpensive lens.

The next step is to figure out why the sensor got so dirty and what you can do to prevent it from happening again.

Dirty environment.
Playing with camera changing lenses.
No worry, I check and clean it before going out and shooting.
This was just to show a dirty sensor then quickly cleaned one.
Just trying to say it is no big deal to clean a sensor, no more so than the front element of a lens.
Quick and easy.
Been cleaning since 2003 and no problems yet.

No one wants a "Dirty Bird" photo...........

Good job.

Yes, cleaning is necessary and not at all difficult (for those afraid to try), just remember to use the right materials or kit, and you are not scrubbing a dirty oven, so act appropriately! If you never change lenses, not needed very often, but if your camera might see > 5-10-20 changes a week like mine, it becomes a necessary part of normal ops.

When I say scrub I realized the first time I did it I barely touched the sensor with the kit swab/brush and nothing happened.
That is why I say scrub, put more pressure on and go over a couple of times or as needed.
Yes, when out, I am poor and have 1 camera and a few lenses so changing lenses is required vs those with multiple bodies for each lens.

Nice to see the responses of those who clean their own sensors.
Hope this inspires others afraid to do so to try it and save time and money and as a field expedient service if needed.
I always have the sensor cleaning kit in my bag for an emergency cleaning when the rocket blower does not work.
