Kodachrome Basin is a long time personal favorite in any season. I always have been surprised that so few photographers visit it. It is so close to Bryce Canyon more accessible. I like visiting there in winter. Nice shots.

My rule for years has been NEVER check in camera gear. Put tripod in checked luggage with clothing and take a carry on that will fit for lenses, etc. Using that approach has never caused problem or a loss.

Jim is right. Nikon slide scanners may be old but they really do the job. I have the Nikon Coolscan IV ED. Rather recently, Ed Hamrick of VuScan completely updated the software for this old workhorse scanner. The results are very good. The updated software is or was available on the VuScan website. Enjoy.

Very nice shots. Have not seen anything similar lately here in Southern California

Although I am mostly a Canon user, your two images look genuinely sharp to me. Looks like a keeper.

Assuming you are talking about 35mm slides, see if you can find a Nikon Coolscan IV scanner. It does a good job and the folks at VUESCAN scanning software have designed up to date software for it. Highly recommended and not tool pricey.

I am a life long Tony Bennett fan. A few years ago, a mutual friend invited me to join him and Mr. Bennett for lunch in San Francisco. We spent a couple of hours just talking. And Tony was so gracious, unassuming and fun. Not much different than the way he is on stage. I have met and spent time with a whole host of performers and writers and musicians, including presidents of the US. But Tony Bennett may well be in a league of his own.

Frankly, try not to shoot these animals. If living where you do is too frightening, move. The critters have a right to their turf. Frankly, you are being waaay over reactive. I live in cougar country. If you can't handle it, move.

Do not skip the wildlife! I have hiked and skied through much of Yellowstone and the Tetons and found all kinds of wildlife (including wolves). Yes. There are bear and bison jams along the roads from time to time. They come with the territory. Often they offer some good photo opportunities. If you really want wildlife, consider hiring a guide for a day or two. Ask a ranger or two which guides they like. And book the guide well before you arrive. I will be returning to the two parks later than your visit and looking forward to the great fall color and so much more.

Beautifully done explainer. I continue to be in awe of your excellent command of the subject matter. I am a Canon veteran and I have begun experimenting with the new Topaz AI Sharpening tool. So far, I have been both pleased and impressed. However, it does seem a bit sluggish in Lightroom. But more effective in the latest version of Photoshop. Have you had any similar experience with the AI editing files that have begun to appear. And thank you for your always helpful comments.

Petunia....Yes.Bears can be a problem. A grizzly killed a man when I was there two years ago. But it really was the man's fault for getting waaay too close. But that is a rarity. Those cuddly looking bison can be very dangerous as can elk and moose. I have camped in those parks in all four seasons. Just avoid getting too close to any large wildlife. Talking with rangers is a sound idea. They know the area. I would suggest taking a guided tour to start. It will give you a better sense of where you really want to go. These are two really large parks Watch your footing around geysers. Closer is not better. There are some great locations along the Snake River in the Tetons. Sunrise can be amazing.Double check on mandated closures due to the virus. Since you are driving, you will have a lot of options. My wife and I are planning another fall trip to the Tetons where the fall color can be awesome. Good luck and have a great time.

I like Artbeat Studio in Orange County, CA. They offer a wide variety of options and their metal prints are outstanding.

I also am a long time Canon user and I love my 5Div and assorted lenses. I have heard good things about the new gear but adding it to my field kit seems unlikely for me. Kinda pricey, too.

I use a couple of Canon printers that seem to like what ever ink I decide to use and clients seem happy. HOWEVER, I am seeing more requests for metal prints which some clients argue are sharper and more color intensive. After having some metal prints done both as an experience and/or at their request, I now tend to agree with the clients. Yes. They cost a bit more but seem worth it. Bay Photo does good work and I really like Artbeat Studio in Orange County, CA. Good prices for excellent results and good turn around time. I am not throwing out my Canon printers and good paper but the quality with long life prints really is starting to look like the better results. I primarily shoot wildlife and landscape images with a Canon 5Div and the results on metal look really good even at larger sizes.

The Canon 100-400 is an excellent lens. Both my wife and I use it when shooting wildlife. And it stays sharp when using an extender. Don't leave home without it.
