The new EOS R5 looks to be Canon's Sony killer...its specs are awesome.
It will be interesting to see what Sony counters with. Love competition...we all benefit sooner or latter.

But it is just a tiny bit pricey. Or maybe not tiny. And so are the RF lenses.

Before purchasing the New Canon EOS R5 or EOS R6 the only issues are:
Wait until the "Real Reviews" are completed. Just ignore the current gushing banal platitudes.
Wait until the initial major software updates are completed.
Wait for the backorder lines to go away.
Wait for the Black Friday sales.
Finally for the Canon Fans (me).
Decide - EOS R5 or R6
Don't you just Love the excitement of a new Canon (Nikon, Sony, etc.) Camera release.

Silly joer, everyone knows it's the photographer who controls the outcome, not the camera. Nobody is anybody's killer. It's just another way to lighten your wallet, nothing more, nothing less. You can get similar results with most of today's camera's.

I don't think anyone is going to be a Sony Killer. Look at their financials for the answer to that...

Only the new RF "L" lenses are compatible w/o the adaptor.
Canon EF "L' lenses are also compatible with an adaptor.

I see you have some experience with new camera announcements.
The new R5 and R6 appear to be awesome new offerings from Canon and I love reading about them and comparing features, etc. However, they are both way out of my price range and I'll probably never own one. Personally, I would really like to see them offer a mirrorless upgrade for the ASP-C sensor bodies, especially if it could be a bit more affordable for those of us on a fixed income. I'd be especially interested if it was designed for the newer "RF" type lenses, as this seems to be Canon's mount for the future even though they are not abandoning the EF type lenses at this time.

It’s now time to sell my canon 5Diii that I never used because I bought my IV series a few month later, and my 5DS as well because 45 MP In the new EOS R5 is big enough not to own both.
If you wait for reviews you can't be the first on to have one.
From everything I’ve read it does great video. That is if you have the capability to work with those huge 8K files. I’ve seen nothing that stands out for still photography.
I am not a Canon or Sony camera user, I use Olympus bodies with Zuiko and Panasonic lenses. The announcement of a new camera always attracts my attention irrespective of camera maker. I am very happy with my Olympus bodies and I do not see changing my position any time soon.
The new mirrorless Canon camera is going to be expensive, near $4000 an investment that not many of us can afford. I am sure the new camera has advanced up to day technologies and surely will be of frequent use with professional photographers. Now lets see what the competition has to offer. The camera has a full frame sensor sporting 45 Mp. which in my particular case are more megapixels than I actually need in case Nikon decides to use one of those sensors in a new camera. Anyway I will stay as an Olympus user for as long as I can.
We as photographers are living exciting times and I keep on believing we do not need a new camera every couple of years to practice our hobby. It could not be healthy for our bank account.
