These shots really didn't thrill me. But, when I looked at your other work ... WOW!

Everyone should take a look.

If you start one mile north of the South Pole and walk one mile south, you will find yourself at the South Pole. From that point, how do you walk east?

Make a 90 degree turn to your left and start walking.

I hope you don't mind me playing with your solar image? You have excellent image data.

I ran it through Lightroom/Aurora HDR to bring out a bit of hidden surface detail...

I don't mind.

I don't have the modern LR. What is the image data ... is it simply details that are there but need some PP to bring out?

My first photo was grossly over exposed ISO 640 f6.3 1/40th , That why there was a halo around the sun. I will keep that mistake in mind if I want a more "Artsy" shot.

These two shots were at #1: ISO 64 f9 1/40th #2: same ISO & f 1/100th

Getting the sun in focus can be hard. Sunspots are something you can use. I notice none in your photo and sun has been active, maybe none or focus not quite there. There is a website called "the sun today" which can show what one might expect for the day in question.

I could not find a website called "The sun Today". There are NASA sites with photos of the sun but the only sites I've seen deal with telescopes information. Please check the exact name of the site you mentioned and if you can get to it. I probably could adjust the focus somewhat - the photo was taken wide open @ f6.3. There are two sun spots at about 4 o'clock but since I didn't post the original you could not see them. Looking forward to getting the website you mentioned.

In preparation for the solar eclipse in April, I will be practicing taking photos of the sun. The photo was properly taken through solar filter and is my first photo of the sun. It's no big deal of a photo but I am already getting excited. The lens is the Nikon 600mmpf.

I always saved the manuals (the English version, anyway) when I bought a new camera. Being a 'real man' I never read them until I had a problem. One problem with that approach is that the manual got stuck in a drawer with extra cards, lenses, filters, dessicants, etc. and I was out and about.

I finally found Manual Viewer 2, which goes on my iPhone. I just download the manuals I want and they're in my pocket all the time. I would expect there's an Android version. I found it about 3 years ago, so before that I was just out of luck.

The only problem with manuals is finding the description of the feature you're looking for. You have to know what they call it. The online manual is a bit better that way because you can enter keywords and the virtual manual will give you a list of where they are and you can just click to go there. No shuffling through 800 pages. If you don't have exactly the right name for what you want, you might have to do it several times, but it's still much easier than the paper manual.

Is this the Manual Viewer 2 you are referring to?
"On August 21, 2020, Nikon will discontinue support for its Manual Viewer 2 app, which allowed users of Nikon digital SLR and mirrorless cameras to download and view user's manuals for their camera(s) onto their mobile device."

The first one uses colors picked from a color wheel; violet and yellow are complementary colors on the wheel.
The second one uses a glass ball approx 2" in dia. / it is sitting on a CD disc and is lit from below / the camera is pointing straight down. The lighting through the edge of the CD creates the white circle and as the light is scattered by the glass it skims the disk, giving off the colors. The black around both images was cleaned up in PS Elements

Well, both your guess and the actual location both begin with the letter A ..... Alaska.

Very cool, if it were mine I would put them a little closer together. It would add a little drama.

Yes closer together would have added some drama but the bird saw the crock. The almost 5' wake of the bird indicates it is now in the process of increasing the distance between them before the croc gets its hopes up.

Nicely done pic. Generative Fill?

No.
I don't have Photoshop, I use PS Elements and do things the old fashioned way. I made two cutouts from two different photos - the cormorant and the alligator. I then placed them into the river photo; each layer is complete by itself and just required some extra blending in because of the water.

Yes, I know it's not a duck, duck just fit the title better.

In the reflected image, the extended arm has a shadow immediately under it, projected onto the back wall. To me it doesn’t look right but if you’re happy with it there’s no need to worry about it Howard.

How can I be happy with it now that I've seen it? Of course it doesn't look right :-) :-) I just never noticed it. Now that I've removed it, the arm stands out against the back wall far better ... a definite improvement. Thank you again.
