In preparation for the solar eclipse in April, I will be practicing taking photos of the sun. The photo was properly taken through solar filter and is my first photo of the sun. It's no big deal of a photo but I am already getting excited. The lens is the Nikon 600mmpf.

Getting the sun in focus can be hard. Sunspots are something you can use. I notice none in your photo and sun has been active, maybe none or focus not quite there. There is a website called "the sun today" which can show what one might expect for the day in question.

I could not find a website called "The sun Today". There are NASA sites with photos of the sun but the only sites I've seen deal with telescopes information. Please check the exact name of the site you mentioned and if you can get to it. I probably could adjust the focus somewhat - the photo was taken wide open @ f6.3. There are two sun spots at about 4 o'clock but since I didn't post the original you could not see them. Looking forward to getting the website you mentioned.
