Definitely. I can recognize his voice when I ehar him on the radio.
One problem: he needs a better tailor.
Don’t understand this. He was a fashion trend setter! His “roll” collar on his shirts was a must have for most of us in that era and I’m not old just turned 96! Bob
At 9 years of age, I was given an old beat up Conn cornet for Christmas. That inspired my love for jazz. I was given lessons by Jimmy Staluto for $2 a week. I practiced, but my overwhelming desire to play jazz was nurtured by a couple of 78 records. One of them was Bunny Berrigan's, "I Can't Get Started". (https://youtu.be/D1ycvlgrKW4) Among my recordings were a few by Louis Armstrong. To be honest, Armstrong was never among my favorites. My real practice was playing with those and many other recordings.
Here's a classic Berlin concert by Armstrong. I've learned to appreciate him. As I watched the PBS/Burns series on Jazz, I learned a great deal about Armstrong, his immense popularity and singular contribution to the development of jazz. (Sorry Louie - you deserve more from me)
You played alto, tenor or both? I played trumpet & valve trombone. Mark
Alto, Clarinet, Flute, Piccolo and sometimes Tenor if called upon to do so. I started at 10yrs old and turned professional at 16 yrs. I forgot the Soprano sax which I still play today for my own amusement 😎 Bob

If you are old enough, I hope you enjoyed this bit of nostalgia. I certainly am. How about those cool jackets!! Mark
One of my all time favorites. He was a real cool dude. Bob Hope knew what he was doing when he picked him for his tours. “Thanks for the memories” Mark. Bob
