Okay, so having half a million dollars might not be considered "rich," but here's how to do it. I don't know what Fisher suggests, but I've listed three suggestions below.

1. Be born into a wealthy family.
2. Follow armored cars and hope for a door to fall open.
3. Rob a bank.

With all that money, you'll be able to marry a Jamie Lee Curtis lookalike.

Jerry!
I know you're retired and so you're rich? I guess so with all the stuff you buy so often.

My rule is simple: To get a small fortune, start with a large fortune and then pursue a hobby like photography, car racing, or the like

My wife & I worked 2 and 3 jobs and saved as much as we could in an investment account. After 25 - 30 years, it will grow. We are not rich, but are comfortable in retirement.

I might not have a lot of cash, but I do have a lot of credit cards. It's the American Way! πŸ˜‚

This is my 24th year of retirement. I got out as soon as I could - to the day! Life is too short to be taking orders from strangers (bosses).

Jerry,
I did the same, took the money and ran and never looked back. What good is the money if you wake up dead?

Exactly! There are two things that hold people back from retiring: not enough money and not enough to do. Neither one is true, in most cases.

I read an interesting study before I retired. The study regressed the age at retirement to total life span and found a very tight inverse correlation, meaning the later the person retired, the sooner they died. I concluded they didn't have anything to retire to. My case, and probably yours, are exactly the opposite. I had more interests than I would even have time for. 21 years later, it's still the case.:)

I worked with a guy waited three years to retire so his pension would be a little higher. He went to work every day for three years to a bit more in his monthly check. Actually, he was at the limit. If that had required him to work an additional ten years, he would have done it.

I refuse to even think about the money I left on the table. No regrets in the least.

As my friend the local philosopher says, "It's better to be rich and healthy than to be poor and sick!"

I am rich. It's not the money, it's the health and the good wife and the family.

Agreed! A wise person once said "No one on their deathbed wished they were still at work."
