Again, you falter me Robert as you've done before with my Teddy Bear image. If anyone wants to get into or do as I've done, it will take time and practice and finding the right supplies. This process will not happen over night. The flowers of fall image was completed in 2014 after several years of working on this. As I've said and to those whom know what I face, I'm not whole anymore and it's an extreme challenge to do anything these days. One good thing about painting.. is it doesn't matter that my hands shake as they do. People like Robert and Linda encourage me as well as others. Seek your dream and don't give up even if "others" tell you "you don't know what you're doing"

The Flowers of Fall was done using a limited pallet of colors or all the colors I could scrounge. I'm always looking for paint and supplies. But the wave art has really drain me and I turn to photography for a while.

I've been holding off on posting any information on this cause I felt no one here was really interested in what I was attempting to do. But seeing how you've taken an interest in wanting to know a good way to increase the size of your view screen, I'll share part of what I've been doing so far.

It was apparent that my eyes are getting worse and I needed new glasses. However insurance hasn't kicked in, so I need to do the next best thing. I purchase a vintage tripod I used nearly 30 years ago and I'll understand why I got rid of it. But this tripod is unique in that it has a swing out/down/up arm. Each point has a mount for a ball head or the old fashion flat tilt mount.

In order for me to use the mount in the correct orientation, The flat tilt mount would be in the way. I purchases a Pergear ball head and a tablet holder (as seen in the attached image) What I'm going is what is know as tethering or mirroring the camera's small screen onto my larger tablet.

Using an app for tethering, I hope to have something to show for this very soon. Total so far on this set up (excluding the camera & tablet) $70.00 for the tripod, $46.00 for 2 ball heads, $18.00 for the tablet mount & $26.00 for the tether cable.

The attached image shows that the center rod can be tilted , lowered or raised based on my setup. In this case I've extended and tilted back (or towards me) the center rod used for the tablet. Once the second ball head and tether cable arrive I'll look into using my wife's tablet to test this before buying my own.

Your message here is far more important than the actual work, though I like it a lot! Thank you so much for this gift.

Thank you Linda From Maine for the comments back then and now. But I've been working on perfecting this process since the late 70's and I'm not willing to divulge this technique. What I can say, it that one needs to first have the photograph printed on canvas then work from there.

I've since discontinued posting my work online via the artwated site. I've tired other sites without any significant results. But I will say my latest work based on Japanese wave art has been very challenging for me. it take a lot of time to create the little wave swirls in each image. This image (3 panels, each 17 x 34) to create a mural.

Least We Forget.. You could do as I did. Turn blurry/useless photos into artwork.

I take photographs of my artwork all the time and post them online. Artbob can attest to this as he and I have been in conversations about each others works and I appreciate his comments about my work. The objective seem to be once you discover the type of lighting you need which the painting seem to indicate you've achieved the desired lighting, Next it would to post edit the work and adjust the colors based on your image. However not all camera's preset colors will look the same. Post editing even using an online web editor, the image would allow you to adjust the color to as close as possible to your painting. Here's my latest work.. a 3 panel set of Japanese style wave art. Although the color is slightly off it is the closest I was able to edit using what tools I have. The point is, I don't edit or try not to edit. But in some cases my art needs a bit of enhancing if posted online. But the above colors are the closest match to date. The only draw back to doing it this way is the textured canvas will have some glow to it because of the texture. I would angle the canvas down slightly to avoid and glow or excess shine.

In today's market, most of the new tripods now have options like converting the tripod into a monopod. In addition, the center pole or spindle with ball head can be flipped under the tripod and lowered to the ground. I've opted for a vintage tripod I once had over 30 years ago. Was lucky to have found it. But it has a unique design which allows the center pole to drop down, extend up and even tilt back. Becoming very versatile. So don't look for a short or mini tripod with a long or extended center pole as these are very unstable. Do look for a tripod with long & adjustable legs to support the camera being underneath.

I started out with heavy gear. the first major camera came along back in 2006 where I was able to utilize my current set of lenses with the D50.. but after my injury, I'm unable to carry these types of cameras let alone the extra gear, which at that time was several zoom lenses and a couple of fixed lenses. The max size lens I was able to achieve at that time was 200mm. nearly ten years since getting rid of that gear, I've though I could manage with something more than just a pocket camera. years of taking shots with a Kodak easyshare or fujifilm Xp60 camera are over, but I'm still hindered. I really have to watch what I'm doing or lifting. Granted I'm back on the path of collecting a new set of gear, but I'm being a bit more cautious with my purchases and how I carry them. So far I'm happy to report that my vintage tripod with tablet and camera mount is looking very good and will offer that assistant needed to better my shots. So to all those who think you're limited because of your injuries, or hindrances.. you can do it. I just need a new pair of glasses.

Mine crashed 3 times. Upon loading, the software went to full screen (beyond my screen's limit) which I wasn't able to exit. IMO, 3 strikes and your out..

If by horizontal plane you mean a horizon line, I’d disagree. Photographer Eliot Porter became well know for his “intimate landscapes” which often did not show either sky or a horizon line. (I.e. shots of desert walls with stripes of desert varnish).

If there isn't a horizontal plane within the landscape image, (even if the photographer wants you to believe there is or isn't) then the image is merely abstract. Also, the horizontal plane doesn't have to be a straight line and may or may not be seen by those viewing the image.. it will fool the eye into thinking there is one even if there isn't.

Good one skip nearly identical trek we took last weekend. Drove what was known as the "Devils Elbow" in PA. Your pic reminds me of the service road in WV nearest to the new river gorge.

Although your images are very nice and colorful, I'm just not seeing the types of colors from years past from around the nation.

Looks as if you got the same results we did 2 weeks ago. One bright spot through the entire trip. Guess we went through NY too early. Maybe next time.

Agreed the B&W is more appealing and striking. Definitely worth framing.
