Don’t forget that DVDs “killed” LPs and record players. Oh wait, you can go to Walmart and buy brand new LPs. And digital didn’t kill film completely. Electric cars won’t kill off combustion engines cars any more than jet engines have killed prop planes. Mass production of shoes hasn’t killed folks that still make shoes and boots by hand. Technology marches onward on most consumer products have not died. The volume produced has but people being what they are, there’s always a few left that like the old technology or young ones that rediscover old technology.

About the only thing that truly dies or is put to rest and never resurrected is non-consumer products and ideas, medicine and medical technology being a good example of both. Medical techniques almost never step backwards, nor does agricultural and industrial techniques and concepts. There may be a few around that still make knives and such by hand the old fashioned ways, but they aren’t mass produced.
