Recurring production cost for an iPhone is $550-$600…but that does not include overhead, development cost R&D for new products, etc, etc…and profit is in there as well. It took me 5 seconds of googling to find a summer 22 article on the production unit cost…but you should learn the difference between unit cost and total cost.
Apple makes a profit…because…hmmm…that’s what a corporation is supposed to do. Others chase market share because ‘we will make it up in volumes…Apple prefers to sell a premium product at a premium price.
This is an argument very similar to cars, watches, camera, and every other product. Buy what you want…but some people want a Ferrari, Rolex, or Nikon…and some people choose other brands because in their view the other brand better suits their needs.
