I don't mind a small tattoo on a female's ankle or shoulder but in my opinion, it has gone too far. I hate seeing a female with a really beautiful body covered neck to toe with tattoos. I like seeing the beauty of pure unadulterated acres of skin! A few years ago it seemed heavily tattooed women were usually overweight or homely looking. Now it seems I see more and more beautiful women with way too much tattooing. I guess I'm looking at this mainly from a photography standpoint. A local photographer has models take off all jewelry other than small earrings. He claims excess jewelry is distracting and takes away from the natural beauty of the model. The heavy tattooing is even worse.

There are some awesome tattoo artists that do beautiful work and to each his own if someone wants tattoos.

A couple of years ago I was glancing at magazine covers while standing in a line and there was a very pretty model in a beautiful dress but all I could focus on was all the artwork on her shoulder and arm; it overpowered the dress. The colors in the tattoos didn't even compliment the dress and I couldn't figure out why the magazine editors thought the photo was worthy of being in the magazine much less cover worthy.

My vote is no for any tattoos that will show in the photo. The model's job is to make the product look good and if the models tattoos over take the shot then it's a fail.

I agree. We had a receptionist in our office with a tattoo on her A double S. She bent over to pick up something and all I could say was, "nice tattoo". I am totally against all tattoos.

Tats do not attract me, but then I'm married and don't need to be attracted. It's not my style, but I'm an old fart and the only time I ever thought about getting a tattoo was when I had to memorize Maxwell's equations.

Tattoos to me are in the same fashion class as scars. But I'm not the boss of everyone (and particularly my wife) so I just ignore those people. To each (insert appropriate pronoun here) own.

I've often wondered about the mentality of anyone who hides behind tattoos. My brother's ex had her ex husbands name spelled out on her arm. She got it removed but it left an ugly scar.

I can understand your point. Tattoos, can sometimes be extremely well done and a fine form of artwork. Being of Jewish descent, it is frowned upon as desecration against
G-D’s creation. When my son passed away, I grew angry at the Creator of all things. Shortly afterwards, my wife and I had tattoos placed. I have a tattoo on my chest above my heart of a small boy blowing bubbles in a field of grass. Using his handwriting his name and the words “I love you” were recreated. My wife has a similar tattoo on her wrist. I lost my 20 year old son 8 years ago. And each day I try to live life and remember his smiling face. I have been asked by my friends what will I say to the Creator.

When G-D asks me, “Why did I desecrate my body?” I will ask Him, “why did you desecrate my soul?” Now I just wait.

Tattoos are a form of expression and tell a story. I don’t find it ugly but an opportunity to inquire of the person and learn more of person and make a new friend.

In point, none of us can impose our beliefs, ideas ideologies, and just a chance to share a grow to be better than we already are.

My son and daughter both have them, I spent 4 years in the Navy and never wanted one. I do not like any of them on a man or woman. If I was supposed to have one God would have given it to me. Just my take on the subject.

I don't have any, but I'm not against them. Some people get pierced ears, other people get a tat. That guy, however, gets tats and piercings everywhere!

Our ancient culture use tattoos to mark achievements, important events and/or for spiritual protection. The traditional clothes also complement tattoos, making them part of the person's beauty.

Later, gangs used tattoos for the purpose of branding and identity aside from continuing to use it as a mark for achievements and prayers/luck. So every tattoo have deep meanings and can be read by others. As an example, the rose is a mark of the BNG or "bahala na gang" (literally translates to "may the Lords will happen, gang"). From my limited understanding of their group, how the rose look, tells if the individual is an officer and the rank or just a peon member. A name of an officer on another individual marks that individual as a "wife"(personal sex slave).

A burn mark tattoo under the base of the wrist aligned with the pinky or between the base of the thumb and pointer is a fraternity mark. The dot tattoo in inside the lower lips means the bearer is a commando or hitman of the Sigue-Sigue gang which is the blood enemy of the OXO or Original Ex-convict Organization (sometimes understood as 0 times 0 equals Nothing) which use the dot x dot tatoo.

Later, tattoos became self-expressions and have have slowly evolved to a artform. Most of our citizens today are either tattooed from jail or self-expressionist from artist shops.

Personally, I don't mind the cultural tattoo and what they were meant and stand for. I'm impartial to convict tattoos as those still fall into deep life moments and still is a language that can be read. As with fraternity marks, they are also a (warning) sign of what a person's probable interaction will be with others.

I do however abhor self expression and art tats even if they look awesome.
They won't look as good afterwards and often do not complement clothings.

Tattoos sadden me. Why desecrate beautiful skin? A woman and some men will send endless time changing their outfits and hairstyles just for a new look, how can they rationalize having an unchangeable look. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t regret at least one of their tattoos. Tattoos may be original art but so much of them are just tracing of others work. Would you like to see a Picaso painted over a Rembrandt?
Who now wears the same style he or she wore 10-20 ago?
When I was a young man I dated a girl who’s mother had a tattoo, she received hers in a concentration camp. It is impossible for me to see any tattoo without recalling the suffering she endured and witnessed.
