Love the Mother Goose House! The attached image of another amazing creation just came up on my FB page, and I thought you all might find it interesting. Translated from the Russian:

"The former director of one of the Petersburg mineral water factories, Vasily Kozin, arranged the Lukomorye near St. Petersburg, making a fairy tale come true. In the summer of 2007, Oncon, a piece of land that was once occupied by a garbage dump, and decided to transform it, thus escaping the depression that had happened.

Creativity helped the entrepreneur: inspired by the work of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin himself, he erected a mini-town in which the famous Baba Yaga settled well - made of wood.

Yaga's hut, by the way, revolves around its axis thanks to the old slewing support from the Ivanovets crane."

The overall color change is seasonal...the colors become duller and more female like. Ambient color temperature also effects their appearance as well as processing preferences.

Beautiful diving shot of a RWBB!

That is a female, isn't it?

Yes, the 10 second timer works but I could not move fast enought to get in the photo. what I need to know is the interval timer working the way it was designed, or is that part of the software Malfunctioning?

Every Thanksgiving we have family come in from TN, and part of the tradition is to take a yearly family photo, same people in the same spot in the yard. The day before they arrive I set up the camera and take some test shots.

This year I found that old age has caught up with me, and I was not able to get myself into the shot within the 10 second window. lol!

I've got a remote shutter release someplace, but rather than try to find it decided to try the interval timer on my 5DIV. Set it to twenty shots with a two second interval. Did that twice.

That turned out to be a good idea, as after I explained to the family what was happening everybody got into it with funny poses, etc, at two seconds apart. And after culling out the obvious duds was left with a set that the family members could choose from for prints.

The entire set was put up on Flickr for the family to see:

The head fell off the Mother Goose quite some time ago, and it took some time to get it fixed. I understand the head has been reattached, and perhaps this is the house after the head reattachment.

Yes, after 80 years efforts were being made to reinforce the failing head, but it did fall off in March of 2021. The community is rallying around a GoFundMe campaign to restore it. Haven't seen any reports yet on the project progress.

A bit radical, and the original resolution probably wouldn't support it, but here is a crop I see:

After looking at other pics from that time and location I've decided it was a Common Raven instead of a crow. Sometimes it's hard to tell unless they are near each other to compare size. But this side view from a minute earlier does show a heavier bill like a raven.

I was wondering about your initial ID but since we have very few Ravens here in KY and an abundance of Crows I wasn't at all confident enough to call it out.

That prominent tuft of hair on top of its bill was an ID indicator of a Raven at one of the bird links I was looking at.

Anyway, it's a beautiful portrait! I've got a crow project going on now, and can get a murder of four to seven to come in to our driveway food buffet almost every morning. Nothing as good yet as your first portrait, though.

Love seeing these birds they are so colorful but the hundreds of sap wells all around the trunks of my cherry trees & maple trees have me worried about their health...what do you think ? A real problem? Oh well enjoy the pic!

Please don't kill these beautiful birds!

We have a crabapple tree in our yard with the trunk covered in sapsucker holes. It has been thirty years and it is still going strong.

Here is a pro-bird link that you might find interesting, and it also talks about mitigating measures such as a previous poster mentioned, like wrapping with burlap, etc.

Late to the party, as usual, but I dug out my old Lunasix 3 meter, and here is a pic of the battery position.

Great old-time meter, BTW!
