Thanks for replies.....just tried to duplicate with a lens hood and no moon appeared so perhaps that took care of it

Would a lens hood help with this? If so, what type should I get?

I'm sure this has been addressed before, but can anyone tell me what is causing the moon like object to appear in some of my photos?

I have had over 1000 purchases on Ebay and only one turned out to be sour. Do the research on the item and the Seller and you more than likely will be satisfied.

Mine did the exact same thing after I dropped it.....I was braced for the worse....took it to be repair.....tech adjusted the diopter and looked at me like "Duhhhhhhhhhhh"
That was OK though as there was no charge and camera works great

Try another memory card in your computer to make sure the reader is working properly.

To each his own, but any time I have had a problem with a card after it's formatted in the camera,I put it in my computer, do a full format, put it back in the camera and format it again from the camera. Have only had the problem a few times and this took care of it each time. I agree that it must be formatted in the camera before taking photos and never use directly from the computer without formatting in the camera. It's worked for me each time.

Personally I would not go with an HP or one that is mass produced. Main problem is they are mainly sold in big box type stores and you have no idea how qualified their computer techs are. I would find a good reliable local computer shop that has been around for awhile. Find a person there that knows that they are talking about and tell them exactly what your end use is. Not only will you get a good computer specifically for you, but you will also establish a relationship with someone in the event you have a problem. In other words a a real person you can look at eye to eye verses talking to someone in India! Just my opinion
