Need Help Memory Cards and downloading

When I take photos and download to computer I end up with photos being on 2 different dates. For example, I went to local park last week photos shot were downloaded to folder dated 5/16/12 and 5/17/12 even though all were shot on the 17th. Card was never removed during shooting. Only shot 30 to 40 photos so card was never even close to being full. What could be causing this and how do I fix it so that they are all on same date? I'm using Canon T3i camera and San disc secure 16 GB digital memory cards. I shut camera off between shots to conserve the battery.

what was the date of the down load? Did you name your pics but not your folder?

Date of download was same as date taken. Nothing was named. I just inserted card into card reader and downloaded via zoom browser software that came with camera.

Is this something that has always been an issue, or something that has recently started to happen?

Make sure the date and time in the camera is correct, including the AM/PM.

This may sound very elementary, but did you check to see if the date and time on your camera is correct? If you have AM and PM reversed that could cause the date to change at noon and not midnight.

Did not think of that. I will check it out.

Checked out camera. The settings do not give option to set AM or PM just Date and time. I reset both to see if that solves the problem. Computer time is set correctly.

Could be the camera has 24 hour time which would identify AM and PM
