Yes, but the context for the question was created in the sentence just before it. You just ignored the entire paragraph and took the last sentence out of context and responded incorrectly.

The sentence only concerned mode of transportation to a photo site. Nothing there fit to respond to. I responded to the title and the question. My biggest failure was not to ignore the inane post.

For the third time in 15 months, the shutter on my D750 has broken/malfunctioned. All three times it was on a tripod shooting a time-lapse, no impact damage, jarring, etc. The two previous times, it was repaired by an independent shop and I am not sure where they got the replacement parts from. There are repair firms that still advertise themselves as authorized Nikon repair services but I thought Nikon had shut them down by not selling them parts. Is the Nikon facility in Melville, New York my best choice (their California service center is closed due to Covid)? I don't expect turnaround to be quick given the times.

Shutter repair is usually nothing more than a band aid. Better to have it replaced. It's easy to contact Nikon or independent repair technicians to determine the availability of a replacement shutter. Posting such a question here is the last thing I would have thought of!

Anyone been there in September
Just wondering what to except for photography
Was there 4 yrs ago for the 1st - 2 weeks in January - What an experience
I have a D810 w/ a 14-24 - along with the big & little stopper 150x150 Lee filters.
Also bought a 150x170 Lee soft grad.
Along with all my other lenses and the 100 Lee system for those lenses, I’m just not sure what to expect
Any suggestions.
Thanks
Don

I'm in "zone" mode.
It just happened at about two feet.

Oddly it doesn't happen 100% of the time, but when it does the camera must be turned off.

If you have a 100V check page 313 of the manual! I think I have a problem.

Those intermittent malfunctions can drive you nuts - I would call Fuji support. Good luck!

How exactly does one 'go for a longer lens' on a hyperzoom bridge camera???

Get a camera that will accept a longer equivalent focal length.

Hi, I have a SONY HX400V. Love it for birding. I would like to extend my zoom and see there are conversion lenses to do this plus a hood. I hope someone can tell me which to buy and if it really works. Thanks

If you do find one that fits, it's almost guaranteed that you will be unhappy with the image quality. Do the birds a favour and get closer or go for a longer lens.

I received a new X100-V for Christmas. Love the camera, but recently if I am within three feet or so of my subject, a “Focus error” message appears on the Screen, the camera locks up, and must be turned off and turned on again to function.

Has anyone else run across this problem? Very strange.

What mode are you in, and what is the minimum distance for that mode?

Hold your fire and read the original post closely. It refers to stopping and pulling over before taking pictures.

The real question is do you use other vehicle types for access.

I YOU bothered to read the original post closely, you would see the only question - "Has any tried photography from a bicycle, motorbike or Vespa motor-scooter?" For my reply, I gave the OP the benefit of the doubt and assumed he meant what he wrote.

A not uncommon thing for me is to see a nice shot while driving, but there is no safe and convenient place to pull off. I wished I was in a motorbike and could pull off onto whatever meager strip of shoulder the road might offer me. Has any tried photography from a bicycle, motorbike or Vespa motor-scooter?

No way! I would pull off the road and stop first.

Are you actually suggesting that people THINK before purchasing?? Thinking is a foreign concept here on UHH!

Ok here’s what I mean by “so-called ‘D-type’ oldies”:

shaft driven lenses, lacking built-in AF motors, *commonly referred to* as the “D type lenses”.

Acoarst you’re correct about AFS/AFI lenses. But those are not the “oldies commonly called D-type”. Notice that I recommended that a sure way to avoid the wrong lenses is to avoid aperture control rings which identify these so-called D-type oldies.

Basically, follow your wording or mine and you’ve chosen lenses with internal AF motors. If that’s not correct advice, please point out where it fails.

We don’t always agree on things, but here I’m NOT seeing how we do NOT agree. Kinda ironic ...

Wrong ??? You’ve agreed with me. Read me again ... just a little slower this time.

Follow my advice or follow your advice. Either way the same choices will result.

Not to argue, but you stated that - ... none of the so-called “D type” oldies would work ... - I merely pointed out which of the so-called “D type” oldies would work.

Check into exposureplot. It’s a free program that will show you a histogram of all the focal lengths and apertures you have used. Might be useful to see what you have shot in the past.

I'm thinking that if the OP had ever shot anything in the past, he wouldn't be asking the question!

Wrong. Any AF-I or AF-S Nikkor will autofocus on the OP's camera, whether or not the lens has a "D" designation.

Believe I should choose/lose one [one, I forgot I had for a bit]
a: Tokina 11-16 Pro DX 2.8
b: Nikkor 12-24 AFS 4.0 G ED
Cameras are D7100, D500, D700 [though, not an issue, i presume]
What do I shoot.....everything..
Thanks to all in advance, appreciate all the information gleaned here !! Thanks Steve]

None of us here can do your thinking for you, but if it were me I would keep the lens I wanted to keep and sell the lens I didn't want to keep.
