That's good but are their Z cameras equal to Canon and Sony? Even long time Nikon fanboy Ken Wheeler doesn't think so.

From what if read, even here, canon has 1 mirrorless body that stands out. The rest are mediocre at best.

Wow, do I feel dumb. Got this camera over the weekend and can't figure out how to transfer the images for processing. My other Nikons had a small port for the tranfer cable but not the 500. Manual didn't seem to help. Must I use wireless, or is that what the USB port is for. Does it require special cable? This will probably be the first in a series of cringe-inducing questions I ask. (Why did that idiot buy that camera is what you may be thinking.) Know I'm going to love it, but need help. Thanks.

Curious. I have the Nikon D500 and on the left side of the camera under a rubber flap is a port to plug a cable into to transfer files. The camera also came with the cable.

See if you can find a computer that is about 15 years old and install on that. Last year I did some housecleaning and threw out several thousands of dollars of old software that will not install on a current windows computer.

Please correct me if i'm wrong. If you buy used from B&H, Adorama, or KEH, or the like, you are buying used equipment. That is totally different than refurbished. I do not believe that much of what they buy and then sell used is refurbished. If you look at items none say they are refurbished. That does not mean the equipment is in poor condition. I purchased a used lens from Nikon, and they specifically stated it was refurbished.

Over a year ago I bought a refurbished Nikon D 3400 from a reputable place that’s often spoken about on uhh.
Took very good pictures I even bought a better lens than the stock lens.

But then I began noticing when I was looking at viewfinder the code R 11. And I could not get rid of it. I looked online and I even called Nikon and they told me it wasn’t anything to be concerned about that it was basically saying that the buffer was full. Something doesn’t make sense to me. I have several digital cameras that I use so it’s not like I was using this one excessively.
Can the buffer be emptied because I cannot get rid of that R11 code. It does hinder you from taking several photos in a row because the buffer is already full. She also suggested I could send it in but why would I pay something like that if there really wasn’t anything that they could do. She never said it could be reset. And if it could be reset why didn’t she tell me how. Is anyone familiar with this? Thank you

Make sure you have the latest firmware installed. Do a complete reset of your camera. You might want to jot down any changes from default settings that you want to use again.

It seems that Amazon Returns have taken a turn for the worse.

I have four choices: bring it to UPS - a one hour round trip, bring it to a store in town - same distance, leave it at a UPS drop-off for $7.50, or have UPS pick it up for $13.50. It looks like they no longer send a label. UPS comes here at least once a week, so I would put the label on it and give it to the UPS driver.

EDIT: Looking again, there is an option to print a mailing label, but that just takes me to the address of the UPS store, with directions to bring it to the store.

Amazon changed their return policy some time ago. New policy is to drop off the return item to either a UPS Store, or in my case or a Coles. You take the item unboxed with the return bar code that Amazon provides, usually in an email, to your choice of drop offs. The drop off store (UPS or Coles) then packages and return the item. This saves Amazon money as your item is bulked packaged with other items to be returned.

I tried using Acronis for some time. All it did was cause me headaches! Switched to SyncBack Pro and have never looked back.

Going to lose $720 million dollars this year---Canon to make '$616 million dollars.

Very misleading. If one looks at just Canon's digital camera sales, the picture is not nearly as bright as you lead everyone to believe!

Why is it that photographers are obsessed with obtaining so many lenses? I only have 3 lenses that serve me well. I have owned them now for about 8-10 years during which I have bought 4 new bodies. My lenses are the Canon 10-22mm efs, the 24-105mm L EF, and the 100-300mm EF. During the time i have owned these lenses I have owned the Canon XT, the 60d, 70d and now the 90d bodies. But I have never had a desire to buy new lenses. Why would I? My 24-105 is my general purpose lens. I use it for 75% or more of my shots. The 10-22 is for when I have to go wide and the 100-300 is for sports, wildlife and general telephoto needs. I cannot imagine needing anything else other than maybe a 50mm prime with a large aperture. I don’t have a camera bag big enough for anymore lenses.

How many lenses do you own?

Are you there? I hope there is no problem. I sent a PM 2 days ago that I would purchase your lens and have not heard anything. Has the lens been sold?

Mr. Adams spent more time post processing than 99.99% of the members on this site. So if you're insinuating that RAW means to have to post process, I guess he shot RAW.

Ya, the same gripe with software companies. You used to be able to download a pdf user guide. Not so much anymore. Forced into using online guides. A real pain having to switch from using the program to reading the manual.,
