I've owned one for a couple of years and yes it's big and heavy and it should be to produce the beautiful photos that it does. You cannot beat the price/performance ratio of the Pixma Pro-100. As far as ink is concerned if you use a lot of ink refill your own cartridges with Precision Color Inks: http://precisioncolors.com/

I've considered Precision Color inks but I'm dubious of the ink's longevity.

Problems is solved.
I called Red River paper and talked to one of their service people and she gave me the answer
number one for the Pro 100 go the printer set up and under paper size go to custom and enter 11 x 14. (bottom of the list)
number two you MUST turn off borderless box.
Number three enter in paper size and type .
Number four...........hit the print button.
Problem solved.
The Canon Pro 100 will print 11x14 prints.

Thank you, custom seems to be the way to go.

I didn't know that the CIS system was available for the Pro 100. How does the system work for you, and what type of saving so you see?

Your link for CIS http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2060353.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H7.Xcis+ink+for+.TRS1&_nkw=cis+ink+for+Canon+Pixma+Pro-100&_sacat=0
Also youtube has info on how to use it. I print a lot that is why I use it and save big time on ink.

I bought this printer at the discounted price noted above. It produces nice prints, but uses a lot of ink. Before I print a 13X19, I will print a 4X6 to see if I have it laid out properly. The only issue I have had is that my prints do not exactly match the colors on the monitor. I buy the ink directly from Canon, and they sometimes offer "free" paper with the purchase of ink. I now have stacks of all kinds and sizes of paper, just tempting me to print another photo, and use more ink. It is large and takes up a lot of space. I also have a Canon MX920 printer, and although it does not make the larger prints, I am very happy with the quality. I seem to get the colors better with this smaller printer.

This is where monitor calibration and pre-print proofing come in. Always keep in mind that when you are looking at the monitor it is backlit and will appear brighter than a reflective surface like a photograph. I generally have to push my overall exposure a little to compensate for that problem. Usually no more than one or two stops depending on the photo.

I am considering purchasing this printer and was wondering what any Hogs who own one think of it. Any issues, concerns etc?
Thanks

It is a great printer. One thing I like is the ink jets will seal off when you turn the printer off, so I have not needed to clean the heads when the printer is idle for a while. What I do not like is the ink is expensive, but all good printers have that issue.
When looking for paper, I suggest looking into Red River Paper in Texas, just google red river paper. They sell great paper for any printer. The one I like most is the Polar Pearl Metallic.

Love the printer, but I can't print 11x14 prints. I called Canon and they told me that 11x14 is not a chinese size. I'm still trying to figure out how to print a custom size print. I was directed to feed paper into the manual feed in the back of the printer. Didn't work, but I"m still trying.
i use the pro 100 for large prints only and my 8220 for smaller images. Great printer.

That's incorrect.

I recently purchased CANON Pro-10 (small improvements from Pro-100). I am completely satisfied with its performance.

I have used the Pro 100 printer a lot and like it very much. I use Canon's Print Studio Pro software which does an excellent job.
